Graphics Cards

Post by Retreat1970 »

Prices are outrageous. I read it's miners that are driving prices up. I also read Nvidia will be upping supply soon (thank god).
I almost bought a 1050 Ti for 220 (not even a mid card) but I waited, and literally the next day it went up to 330.

I'm just ranting nothing more.

I've heard that too, that they are using GPUs for mining bitcoins.

I'm so glad I didn't upgrade. I had no idea my GTX 680 was still competitive after 5 years. Prices are still very bad but on the plus side if the bit coins crash we'll have 1080 cards for 50 bucks on craigslist.

Sorry to keep harping about this but...

$1500 for a new GTX 2080! Unreal. I saw a rare sight at Best buy the other day. One 1080 for $800. I can't justify that price at all.

If they have been used for mining then some GPUs will have been running 24/7 at full tilt for well over a year and may be very close to their last legs.

A second hand GPU may be worth considering if prices really collapse, but bear in mind that there will always be a gamble involved in buying one.
