Flak at Undefended Airfields

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Flak at Undefended Airfields

Post by SagarenHunter »

In BtR I've noticed my planes take losses from flak when attacking, or even just bouncing landing aircraft over airfields that recon shows do not have AA guns emplaced. I've even double-checked by running recon flights before, during, and after a raid and they show no flak. So my question is, is this a bug or do airfields have intrinsic AA defenses like troops do?

Or maybe your recon isnt perfect.

You know, just like in real life.

I'd accept that as a possibility if the same airfields weren't involved over the course of days, weeks, and, even months. Sooner or later I would think one of the many recon flights would have to see something. Thus the question are there integrated flak defenses or is it something else. Because if it's just bad recon, then there's something seriously wrong with the way recon works.

There is no intrinsic flak but if the airfield is near locations with larger caliber flak you will be target by those as well.

Thank you for the information, that may be what is happening sometimes.

Recon is pretty good at spotting flak types (heavy or light) so you can rely on that info, unless the recon was reported by a bombing raid. Then, not so much.
