Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
GG allor
My strategy on this game was delay delay delay, put almost everything in France's defense, delaying the germans as much as possible up to August. I moved the WDF army from Egypt in France too. Even the carries help in north France defense.
Must say that also the failed Sealion ( was lucky I had the WDF Egypt army back and some corps in UK ) also increased the mobilization of the soviets enough to have much betters forces to defend the main rivers with ATs. I am not sure why not took the chances with Spain, it was 71% Axis.
in China I traded troops for land, delaying as much as possible taking any cities even with massive casualties and no research... gave me time to hold until USA enters the war, but in 42 Chinese troops were useless without tech. Good thing I delayed enough the japanese to avoid any assault to Malaya, India or DEI.
In mid 1942 I had enough forces for a Dday after securing Africa, throw everything in France from UK and US ( I did not use US production for the Pacific at all ) while the Soviet launched all-out offensive to pinpoint the germans in the East to avoid reinforcing France. Paris fell quickly and then it was just a matter of time.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament (posting result)
Posting the following game result.
Start Date: 11/28/2022 End Date: 12/4/2022
Turn: 43
Allies: Judgementday Axis: Tyronec
Winner: Judgementday
USSR prepared for war early due to the annexation of Lithuania, Germany was not ready to attack. Axis felt it best to concede at this point.
Good game Tyronec. Well played.
A good opponent. Reliably returns 2/3 turns a day. Look forward to a rematch in the future.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
ELO Game Ended - Axis (Fafnir) Win, Allies (Archmache) Loss
Allies resign after the entire German army occupies the UK with 0 damage taken.
Fafnir 100% gimmicks every move - would not recommend playing him. When I'm Axis I don't do those moves as its ahistorical and not particularly fun. I will say Elo rules were broken with Italian navy leaving the med but he still deserves the win.

I am playing against him, and while he tried that, I attacked Italy and I pretty much knocked out the Italian Navy ( lost 2 BB, 1 BC, 1 corps plus CL and another BB heavy damaged ) while losing a CV because I am an idiotarchmache wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 7:43 pmELO Game Ended - Axis (Fafnir) Win, Allies (Archmache) Loss

The surprise came with an attack through Maginot without attacking Belgium or Netherlands ( I understand to avoid mobilization in US ). In any case, more than happy to play with him and learn these moves and any new ones he will show me. Its great to play with one of the best.
I am trying also to surprise him with "bold" moves and I have destroyed a few german units in France and japanese units in China.. lets see, I am not in his league but will try to give him a good fight.
I am quite excited to be honest, cant wait for the next turn.

The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !

I'll freely admit I ragequitted that game ... I play about all other games to the very end, but getting 2 panzer corps, and army, and 2 paratroops, and a HQ into UK in one move was just too much for merafaelmbaez wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 8:42 pmI am playing against him, and while he tried that, I attacked Italy and I pretty much knocked out the Italian Navy ( lost 2 BB, 1 BC, 1 corps plus CL and another BB heavy damaged ) while losing a CV because I am an idiotarchmache wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 7:43 pmELO Game Ended - Axis (Fafnir) Win, Allies (Archmache) Loss

I'm hoping one day that ships will have 100% zone of control for troop transports so you can't move by them without being stopped. Maybe devs will take a look.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
Perhaps you should put it in the forum as I am not sure the developers would notice it here.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
ELO match finished
Fafnir Axis wins vs rafaelmbaez Allies
Allies resigns after a sucessful invasion of UK in Jan 1941 after getting the Home Fleet decimated, Egypt lost and France surrendered in full in Oran all in one turn. I dont think there was a coming back from that, even that most Axis forces were in UK and Africa and US and URSS got a boost in mobilization.
Tried my best but too many small errors ( mostly with the fleet ) that Fafnir took advantage every single time without a single mistake, perfect tactician.
Learn a lot of tricks and some fixes for my mistakes.
I am happy for a rematch as Allies again if Fafnir wants, this time wont be the same

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
ELO Game finished:
rafaelmbaez ( Axis ) won vs Pekkavilamoura ( Allies ) in early 1943 after Allies resign.
As we spoke in-game, supreme airpower is key in Waw, which allowed me to keep destroying soviets units while moving all my panzers and troops to destroy D-Day ( which was too spread in my opinion, and was a weird move attacking Vichy to do D-Day, you lost one turn to take a port... better to land in France with air support from UK, also the travel from US is shorter )
China was beaten with only Urumchi left, India invaded with 3 marines in the south and probably undefended, there was 15 good japanese units through Calcutta too, and total air dominance. Japanese bombers were killing machines.
Allies put a big defense in Malaya - Sumatra - Java with like 10-12 planes, 12-15 corps, I think all uk CVs and naval bombers, which took me forever to crack with some loses, but end up in big losses for the Allies. Japanese troops can focus in one island at time ( I focused all in Malaya quickly taking Singapore, then everything to destroy the naval bombers and CVs to avoid retaliations to my CVs and BBs, then landings in Java ). There was still fights in Sumatra.
This Pacific campaign was really really cool.
Libia was lost after stupid mistakes from my part ( which allowed UK to take control of the Med), but at least did not commit german forces there.
Barbarrosa was easy at the beginning, trying to surround units as much as possible to avoid cheap rebuilds, soviets retreated to the 3 big cities, much harder to crack. I focused with all panzers to took down Stalingrad and the Caucasus, taking Baku. Moscu and Leningrad still on soviet hands but surrounded. Convoy war in north Norway was to be lost by Germans but took down some allied ships.
Very cool game, enjoyed a lot and learn some tricks.
