Intricasies of MPP income and supply

Post by DavidDailey »

Having only a hazy understanding of the supply and resource income chain, I have a few quesstions about Mother Russsia. If the fascists have cut off the road lines leading out of the Caucasus to the Russian interior would the Russians still get MPP income from their oil wells? If the krauts then bomb the port of Baku do the Russians still get the MPP income from those valuable oil wells? Also, if the Red Army is hanging on to Vladivostok but the Japanese have cut the road and rail line to the interior do the Russians still get the U.S. mpp income?

Other than in the various overland and overseas convoy routes I don't think this game system models the movement of MPPs from one area of the map to the other. In other words, resources from mines and oil wells don't move overland to factories or refineries to be turned into finished goods because there are no factories or refineries per se. They produce their MPPs on the spot and that goes straight into the national pool. You can carve a nation in half with your armies and the remaining MPP centers will still be totaled as one for both parts. About the closest you can get is cutting the amount of local supply these areas receive from rail connections to other resource areas thus reducing their ability to crank out MPPs at full capacity. An oil well sitting in a hex with a supply level of two probably isn't very productive.
