Question about taking Malta

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Question about taking Malta

Post by jonpfl »

All,

Just trying my first game as the Axis and I am curious why I cannot see the stats for Malta?

Am I supposed to be able to? I am trying to bomb it to lower entrenchment but have no clue what the value is at.

Thx

Malta is a one hex island, so you can't spot the entrenchment level with an adjacent land unit as usual. However, each medium bomber will inflict one level of de-entrenchment even if you don't see it. When the AA unit defending the hex finally evaporates that's when you invade.

The spotting mechanics usually work OK.

But in the case of Malta, they are a bit weird.

In order to get the full details of a land unit, you need to have a unit with a "land spotting" value > 0 and within as many hexes.

For Malta, that is very hard to do as the Axis without a CV.

When first starting to play SC, you may want to periodically turn off FOW just to see what is going on, until you get the feel of things.
