Mortar range/ammo info

Post by UP844 »

After getting an unpleasant shower of 81mm mortar bombs in "WN73" at 2 hex range (where I thought I was safe, being inside the minimum range), I made a little survey of mortar ranges:

The table format is <Name> / <Min-Max Range> / <Ammo types>

German
50mm Lt Mtr: 2-13 / HE
81mm GrW 34: 2-60 / HE, Smoke
100mm NbW 35: 8-75 / HE, Smoke
120mm GrW 42: 12-*** / HE, Smoke

Russian
50mm Lt Mtr: 3-20 / HE
82mm BM 37: 3-78 / HE, Smoke
107mm GVPM 38 3-78 / HE, Smoke
120mm PM 38 12-*** / HE, Smoke

American
60mm M2 Lt Mtr: 2-18 / HE
60mm M19 Lt Mtr: 3-45 / HE
81mm M1 MTR: 3-75 / HE, WP
4.2 in M2: 14-*** / HE, WP

British
51mm Lt Mtr: 2-11 / HE
51mm AB Lt Mtr 2-8 / HE
3 inch MTR: 6-36 / 3-63 9/42+ / HE, SMOKE, WP
4.2 inch: 24-*** / HE, SMOKE, WP

NOTES:

"***" indicates virtually unlimited maximum range (greater than the diagonal of a 4x3 map).
I have not tested the characteristics of mortar-carrying halftracks: I suppose they share the same min/max range of the field versions
All other information (ROF and notes) can be found in the TOTH manual ordnance tables (chapter 8.2)
