I'm looking for this, too. Was it not in Patch 02 after all? :(

I really wish there were a tutorial released, or at least a beginner's guide.

Does anybody know of a beginner's guide for this game? I know all about jumping straight in, learning to tread, etc. but I'd like a focused introduction, as well.

I found the following links in the old WitP forum:

"The War in the Pacific unified manual/tutorial - put together from official manual, patch updates/changes and posts from official forum by Lord_Calidor" [.doc-file]
http://mathubert.free.fr/witp_files/Wit ... kripta.doc

WITP Unofficial Strategy Guide:

The WitP FAQ: A useful thread containing lots of answers to common questions. Sadly, it hasn't been updated in ages.

War in the Pacific - The Japanese Campaign [.pdf-file]

I'm sure one or more of these can get you started.

Those are helpful, but they're all for WiTP, not WiTPAE. I'm surprised such a good community as this one doesn't have starter's guides for this complex game!

One of these days they'll get around to finishing the in-game tutorial they started, but until then, AE is still based on the WitP engine, so these links should at least give you an idea on where to begin: I recommend Coral Sea to start.

Followed by the Guadacanal scenario, repeat rinse and repeat.

Try some of the above links, and then start a small scenario as the Allies w/an historical first turn; it will at least get your feet wet.

I see these threads from time to time and am curious, what do you guys really want covered in a tutorial / AAR ? I'm unsure you'll get what you want, unless this is addressed anyway.

I'm a teacher and willing (time permitting -WITP PBEM/GF/TRACKER), to do something to help - I guess if it seems reasonable.

I would like a tutorial for somebody who has just run the game for the first time. The tutorial should hit all the major points I need to know to play, and the manual should be where I run to for in-depth, specific information I might be looking for.

Reading EVERY entry in the manual (as there is no way to avoid this) is taking me a long, long time.

Would a checklist similar to the PacWar checklist be useful for novices?

Wow, that's GREAT for someone like me (absolute newbie)! It explains everything at a beginner level. I wish I knew what was still applicable to AE as opposed to WiTP. AE is my first Matrix game.

Strange AE doesn't coem with tutorials. Looks like newbies have to jump into the deep end of the pool. Take a couple of weeks and you should be ok. [;)]

Everything that can explain the game mechanism is welcome for us new users!! :)

Some things I would like to find are:

- how to read reports.

-A quick reference table ordered by sea air land and production of all the commands that a human player can give with for every order a list of all the possible causes that ai may refuse or alter it.

-An example of how to play the first turns of a scenario and how to benefit of the information that logs witp staff or witp tracker give.

Thanks

I think that the day jobs of the developers interfere with the tutorial completion. That and the expectation from the old timers that they should be focusing on fixing the game instead ;)
