question regarding underway replenishment of "carrier air Mission points"

Post by sven6345789 »

Hi, wonder if you can send a TF out in 1944/45 for almost indefinite amount of time ( as historical )
1 ) fuel: underway replenishment possible
2 ) ammunition: underway replenishment possible 1945
3 ) planes : possibe
4 ) aviation fuel ( Mission points) : ? do they replenish too or do you need to dock for them?

You can refuel ships (but not subs) at sea from game start using AOs.

Starting Jan. 1, 1945 you can replenish ammo (which includes bombs and avgas for carriers) from AEs. Ops points are limiting factors for both supplier and receiver.

The US only has replenishment squadrons to top up carriers with replacement aircraft. These come in on CVEs and have an R in the squadron designation VRF, VRB or VRT.
The replenishment squadrons do not need to stay on the CVE - they can be landed at a base and, as long as the CVs needing their aircraft are in transfer range, the planes will automatically fly to the carrier.

Thanks for the clarification.

One question to 4. Mission points.

With every air mission from a carrier, you expend mission points, representing, i think, gasoline and weapons such as torpedos. Do they also get replenished via ammunition transfers ( AEs)?

Yes. Up to the 1000 points limit/turn of the AKE. Depending on how much ammo you also need, you will need several to replenish a mostly empty Deathstar or KB.

To use the correct term, the carrier uses "Sorties" to count the expenditure of avgas and ammo by individual aircraft (torps are counted separately). So "Sorties" is what you replenish, not missions. Missions are the tasks assigned to air units.
