Urumchi

Post by Gratch1111 »

So got it a few turns back and the oil and fuel is actually rising more than the production while set on no on all accounts. Looked into it and lots of posts saying its hard to move the fuel and oil out, while it doesnt seem impossible, no one is actually saying how to best do it.

Any advice?

It depends upon which side you are playing, when it is in the game, and what assets that you have available.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

If playing as Japan, try sending some tankers to the river port at Hankow to create some regional demand which might draw it down.

Don't forget to adjust your stockpile spinners and having at least one large TF to have its home there as well to encourage the demand. Also load any oil there as well, priming the pump as needed.

Yes. Setting a base as home port will increase the 'need' of that port so fuel will start to move there based on the number of ships assigned to that base. However, I don't think any Japanese player can ever anticipate fuel moving from Urumchi quickly or in vast quantities. Obviously, there were no oil pipelines in China in the 1940s and the overland transport link between Urumchi and coastal China is long and lousy.

That is why you adjust the stockpile spinners so no easier source of fuel can flow there. If you dump a small tanker load of oil there, then have two tankers in a CS convoy for oil you may be able to pull oil out of there as well.

Hi everyone,
2 questions :
when you write "operate the centrifuges" to improve the circulation of fuel and oils, I don't know what that means. ;)
I cannot find the city of Urümqi on the map with the RHS mod.

Thanks Yaab, but I think on my RHS mod map, this town doesn't exist.
But it will be useful for a future PBEM on the standard mod, because in my current game, I am in January 45 and of course I am seriously lacking in fuel...

Damn, you are right. In RHS, Urumchi hex (79,11) is occupied by Dihua base.

This is why you adjust storage centrifuges so that no simpler sources of fuel can flow through them. If you dump a small tanker cargo there, and then have two tankers in a CS convoy for oil, you might be able to extract oil from that as well.
"Adjust storage centrifuges", this is what I don't understand... :(

Are you using a translation tool? If so it turned "spinners" into "centrifuges". The spinners are the buttons that allows to select how much supplies, fuel etc. a base should try to stockpile. I'm on my phone, not at my computer - someone else may chime in with a screenshot to explain visually.

Thanks again Yaab for the info. 8-)
Yes indeed I can see the town of Dihua but apparently when I place the mouse over it in this mod I don't think there is fuel there. But I'm going to send troops there because I have troops further south in Kuchuan.

Dihua doesn't need fuel. Dihua has Light Industry which doesn't use fuel. Alma-Ata has some Heavy Industry, so fuel may flow there.

I was able to get both the Urumchi oil and fuel to move. I do believe that I still have pictures . . .
