Looking for a Full Campaign Opponent

Post by alesha93 »

I'm looking for an opponent to play in the Full Campaign Game (scenario 001).

I am an intermediate player who has been playing PBEM since the Uncommon Valor days. I don't know all the tricks of the game and don't read every forum article to pick up how to 'game' the design of WiTP-AE; however, I will give you a good game and won't make noob mistakes. Above all I'm reliable to last the duration of the game and, above all, am looking for someone who will do the same.

I have no desire to crush my opponent and win at all costs. I really enjoy playing the game and the interactivity and connection with my opponent that comes with an mutual, extended commitment to the game. If that doesn't resonate with you then we probably aren't going to be a good fit.

After the initial turns I can do 4 to 8 turns per week depending on my travel schedule and other real life issues.

I don't care if I play the Allies or Japanese. I will do equally well with either.

The particulars of the game would be as follows:

Fog of war - on
Advanced weather - on
Allied damage control - on
Player defined upgrades - on
Historic first turn - optional
December 7th surprise - optional
Reliable USN torps - off
Realistic R&D - on
No unit w/d - off
Reinforcements - fixed

All facilities to expand at beginning - off
Auto upgrade ships and air - off
Accept air and ground replacements - off

Turn cycle = 1 day

I run version 1.06.1108r9 and like to run only official versions (no betas).

If you are interested, please respond to the post or pm me.

Thanks.

You miss out on a lot of new stuff if you hold on to this rule. The beta patches are as stable as the official versions...

You may be right. Years ago, I used to install and use the betas as soon as they came out. I had a few issues with them messing up my PC. The PC I use to game is the same one I use for work so I'm a bit sensitive to anything that might cause me issues. Maybe that's not an issue anymore and the beta stability is not a worry.

Thanks.

I had the same concerns about Betas as you but after nearly a year using them I have had no issues. I update more or less as they come out and as long as opponent is also updating it's been all good. I know that for a lot of us we would have to reload the original to back to "stock" status.

If you are still looking PM me as I could handle a gentlemanly game on the side. My other PBEM opponent is Aussie and time zones play hell with turnover.
