Joseignacio, I think you will find the diplomacy very interesting. Also...the North Sea can be interesting as well;-) In my last game, I as the Germans were able to get the CW to spread their fleet out more and more with raiders and subs...when the numbers were about right I sailed the High Seas Fleet into the North Sea and won.
Conflict with the unexpected: two qualities are indispensable; first, an intellect which, even in the midst of this obscurity, is not without some traces of inner light which lead to the truth; second, the courage to follow this faint light. KvC

Well, I was disappointed by the childish and inexact look and feel of the map, the rest of course I don't know.
I liked the older map and it's aspect like 1.000.000 times more than this one.

Sorry if I have the wrong end of the stick - but if I read these recent posts right there seems to be some confusion.
The abomination of a map (posted above) is for WIF Blitz (although apparently not necessarily the definitive version). Fatal Alliances uses a version of the Final Edition maps (allowing for the necessary boundary changes).
If that was already clear please ignore.

In my case it was clear, or my whining would have been way sounder. Or I might have directly got depressed. [:D]
But I have a Fatal Alliances game running 200 meters from home at a friends' and I see it frequently although I am not playing. [:)]

I made that comment because I think that if your 4 home nations would have competed as one nation your national team would be a title contender every tournament after the initial co-operation problems have disappeared. But with only one national team then there would be less fun matches to watch.ORIGINAL: warspite1

Indeed. As long as you insist on having separate national teams in football you might have more fun but will find it harder to gain titles. It is not, I am pleased to say, a malaise that affects the superior peoples of the United Kingdom of course. We fully understand our place in the world.
Not sure what that has to do with the self-deprecating comedy Globe, but one thing I guarantee - put the 4 home nations together into one team and we would still be crap.

But they would still be the 2nd best Cricket team in Europe!
What market are they aiming "Blitz" at?
Surely not the hardcore WIF player, maybe as a "lite" version to get interest in the more detailed WIF games.
PS Anyone got v1 of WIF maps, just as basic and crappy versus the latest versions, maps are easy, getting the rules right is more important.

So the map, assuming release map is improved, would be perfect.ORIGINAL: paulderynck

About starting WiF right where FA stops : great HarrIdea. I suppose it would make sense if the FA result was close to historical, for instance a CP surrender between the summer of 1918 and the summer of 1919.
If one side had soundly beaten the other one, there might not have been the "backstab" myth, the victors might have been less scared and might have been more (pick your choice) lenient / sensible.
The desastrous consequences of a narrow victory and scared victors might have been avoided.
I've been waiting for FA III since 2010, I had already pre-ordered back then, and I sure am glad it will indeed be published.
Best regards

To be true, the ADG WIF Blitz "beer and pretzel" design looked much better even for beer and pretzel public.
I mean, with B&P it seems very different player are included, it's not the same the adult players who are not hardcore but still like some seriousness:

or Not the same as this kind with it's own customers, of course.

The problem IMO is that the game has gone down to this.

I too rarely visit the ADG site anymore (because nothing changes), so I am glad of the post here drawing attention to the Compass Games/ADG collaboration.
Since MWiF is essentially a computer-aided boardgame, I doubt there is anyone on this forum who does not have WiF cardboard in the house somewhere.
I have a strong interest WW1 games, and (M)WiF, so will pre-order Fatal Alliances. I had the 1st edition many years ago, but never did much with it. Blitz does not appeal to me as a game, so will pass. (It's not the reason I'm not interest, but in my opinion, that is one of the ugliest maps I've seen in a game in a long time!)

There are very many of us without any cardboard anywhere in the house...

There have been plenty of posters on this forum who have confirmed they never played the boardgame. Indeed it would be a surprise and disappointment if that was not the case as one of the reasons for putting WIF on computer is to open up this wonderful game to a new community of would-be players i.e. those that are already familiar with computer wargames but who have never tried boardgames and/or were wargamers but never tried WIF.

RE: That ADG game WIF BLITZ might just be real
I've played many board games including War in Europe [X(] but I never got into WiF for some reason. So I was thrilled to see this on the computer and bought it on release.
So maybe that is why I am more tolerant of the current state because this is the only way I could ever be able to play it. As somehow I do not think my wife would tolerate the physical game in our 900 sq ft apartment for months on end. At least with her not leaving me [:(] . I know it may be hard to understand for some but my wife is more important than WiF [X(] With the computer version we can both be happy [:)]

RE: That ADG game WIF BLITZ might just be real
How many Pro's here would actually expend time on this version? I understand ADG needs to enter new markets but is it worth displacing WiF time?? (I vote "No"). [:D]

We Welsh could lend England a decent midfield.

This new product will be probably sold with much more ease.
Shorter time of gameplay, less space occupied. People tend to be busy, and the era of monster games on tabletop is pretty over. Only few still play them, or we'd have the old big game houses up and running.

There is a group in Greenville SC called the Greenfield Mafia that would disagree with that [:)]
They pooled together and bought a condo and it is only used to play games [X(]. So they can leave games up as long as they want.
There is another group in Seattle, WA that has rented warehouse space and do the same thing. When you join up you get a key and you and your friends can again leave games setup. Like Empire in Arms, Europe Engulfed, etc.
So the era of having these monster games set up at home may be over, but, people being clever as they are, have found creative ways around these issues [:)]
