Take the FTR as loss.

This time?
My memory is short, and I suspect that I am biased. However, Allies has won a huge majority of the recent air combats. If not close to all of them. Draws, or Allied wins. I say that Axis has not even had any advantage in pilot losses even though we mostly fight over Axis controlled hexes. Even going back further my recollection is that Allies have a better record in winning air combats.
And if you are referring to the previous naval air combat against Japan, then that was an Allied win as well. It does not make it an Axis win just because it did not go as well as you had hoped. Japan did get In a couple of nice aborts on Allied fighters there. However, DX is a better result than AA. In the end the lost number of BPs is probably the best measure on deciding who won, or lost, an air combat.
With that said, I am aware that I often misremember things. Tend to forget when things went well, and remembering when it didn't. I am also aware that it is common for both parties to feel that they have been unlucky.
Anyway. I am still having fun with this game after all those years it has been going on. Thank you.

I was referring to the last major air combat. And that’s why I said that ’this time I say…’ because I said other things last time

I got that. I am probably a bit annoyed because winning a major air combat feels like an experience yet to be experienced, for Axis, in this game.
Considering how much effort Axis has put into air power in this game, I think the return has been lousy.
Still. The game ain't over until the Allied players has admitted defeat. So still a bit more ground to be fought over.

Somehow in every game I've ever played in WIF my opponents have had lousy luck in weather, searches, air combat, land combats, strat bombing, and every other phase in the game. I think I've never been in a game where my opponent(s) feel they have been lucky at anything. I think I must be the luckiest player in the world of WIF.Orm wrote: Thu May 11, 2023 8:37 am I got that. Or at least this is how my opponents all see it. There is some syndrome among WIF players that causes the pain to be held close and the victories to be forgotten quickly. It's just a WIF-player-thing.
Petteri and I have moaned and complained among ourselves about naval searches and Axis inability to lose a land combat roll (or so it seemed to us for much of the game). Of course it's not true it's just how we remember it. Who knows maybe you are factually right and allies have had all the luck in this game and the only reason we are not facing complete conquest is that that we got completely lucky.
As for effort put into air I think allies have basically built out their fighter pools other than Russia which doesn't have enough BP's to do that.
And as for this game. It's clear to me that it's an Axis victory coming up but it's fun to play it out since as allies there is finally a chance to punch back after years of taking it on the nose. I think Axis players are just better players than we are as allies - not LOTS better we can still make it a contest and we are not bad players, just not as "optimally perfect" as the Axis players in this game. Petteri has lots of zany but good ideas. He's like a mad genius. So the game is super fun for me.

Allies are using their super power (luck) to change the tide of war.
USSR AA is super accurate 10 8 6 10
Aborting HS 129 (3 point tank buster) and one point from the other bomber.

Change on plans. 8-1 GAR from south advances and 7-6 ARM from east advances and uses breakthrough to move to southern hex

JJ have been telling me the war I lost. I say Allies must take more risks and roll like we have rolled this impulse. With dice like this we will win! (Please don't tell me that 'dice gives, dice takes')

Impulse #7 (Axis)
Naval Movement Continued:
Japan:
The TRS + CA move into Tientsin, embark MOT, sail back out into the China Sea where US trieds to intercept but fails on a 3 (2 needed). The force then continues to Canton.
Yet another TRS + CA leave Fukuoka for the China Sea. This time loaded with AA, and AT. The US SUB tries to intercept, and succeeds on a 2.

After some well chosen words the commander decide to push on in an attempt to reach their destination.
Edit: The Japanese commander spend some speed to get into the 1-box.
