Great Game

Civil War 2 is the definitive grand strategy game of the period. It is a turn based regional game with an emphasis on playability and historical accuracy. It is built on the renowned AGE game engine, with a modern and intuitive interface that makes it easy to learn yet hard to master.
This historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

Great Game

Post by Zemke »

Just bought this game and am very impressed so far. If you like the Civil War era, and if you like managing the war effort, this is the game. After reading several reviews on several different sites, I decided to give this one a try and have not been disappointed. The system is very different from why is "normal", but once you get used to it, everything is second nature. Highly recommend this game. Went and got the DLC to it also, Blood Road South. Last had no issues, no crashing. The only thing that may be a problem is the turn execution is a bit slow, and I have a high-power computer, AMD Ryzem 7 5900. So I would guess on older computers things could take awhile to execute. On mine, it is about 1-2 minutes.

Sadly yes, so we need to post in the "General" forum for AGEOD games I guess... ;)
I have an older PC and game ran fine (when I was still playing it even if i needed to use the crappy steam to play)

But I can write my 2 questions down in case someone from Matrix and/or Ageod reads this forum still:

a) Can CW2 be played without STEAM.. I discontinued the use of steam (not liking it) can I play games which I registered there but did not buy there be played without steam? Must be possible cause as said I did not buy the game at steam (the same goes for 2 total war games I "registered" at steam...these were still on DVDs but still now need steam or what?) while I did buy CW2 and To End All Wars (TEAW) at different stores or at Amazon (can not remember).

b) I bought TEAW long ago in another store and I lost the install files...this was a download I guess. I found the game key luckily (I hope it is the key as I noted down for the game, casue the key looks like a Windows key  ). So where can I "re-download" the game I purchased long ago?? I paid for it too ofc I do not have a receipt anymore only the game key (I hope)

I planned to stop playing games all together BUT I miss eg. CW2 and RTW too. Luckily I had RTW1 still on DVD and an older Win 2000 install where this runs great( It does not run on Win7 64bit for me, only the expensive so called "remaster" but this needs steam too I guess)...but IIRC both Ageod games ran on 7/64bit so perhaps even on 10?

You may play CW2 without steam if you did not buy it there, you need the serial key.

Regarding the second question I would contact matrix directly:

Thanks, but I need to re-download the game files from somewhere, game also stopped to work and I tried the steam "repair" (did not work) and then re-installed the game w/ the steam files (did not work). I just needed the 2 games to download from somewhere other then steam ;) I may contact support, CW2 key should be noted in the so called steam library...right? I can login there without the crap steam on my pc
