One of these turns had a weird bug - mixed IJN groups tried running ASW attacks on USN destroyers... weird. I snipped those reports off, as no damage was dealt to either side.

BB Texas, present day

Post by Connfire »

San Jacinto, Texas. She's the only BB in the world left from the dreadnought era.

Good write-up on her here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Texas_(BB-35). Scroll to the bottom of the page for lots of neat links about her.

P.S. Mikasa's still afloat, too. In a way. But she's a pre-D.

I grew up in Houston and I spent many a summer day on board her. My favorite was sitting at the 5"/51s, but the surgery always gave me the creeps!

The most interesting thing for me about Texas was back in the early 90s when they were giving her a refit of sorts in Galveston. It was quite amazing to see her in dry dock, and I can just kick myself for not taking any photos.

HMS Caroline, present day

Post by Connfire »

P.S. Mikasa's still afloat, too. In a way. But she's a pre-D.

So we have Mikasa, Olympia, Texas, and also the CL HMS Caroline tucked away at Belfast, Northern Ireland: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Caroline_(1914)
