Bobruisk 1941 (next scenario to come)

Post by AngrySwan »

While the infantry divisions of AG Center clear the Minsk pocket, 2nd panzer group (5 panzer divisions including 3rd Panzer Div. as well as 10th and 29th motorized divisions, elite Das Reich and 1st Cavalry) go for the bridges over Berezina before the Soviets have established a solid defense there. This operation is supported by 2 bomber groups and 1 fighter group but there are no airfields to resupply so airstrikes must be planned carefully. The Soviets have 50th, 161st, 100th, 155th and 121st infantry division on the eastern coast of the river together with 1st motorized division and 7th, 8th and 214th paratrooper brigades. The Soviet air force has not recovered from the earlier battles and this position is more like an advance guard with the objective to buy time so they can build a real defense line along Dnepr.

The Soviets also have elements of 14th and 20th mechanized corps in the area so the 2nd panzer group will have to earn their champagne before getting it.

Beginning - July 2, 1941
End - July 10, 1941

Another mini and not so hard scenario allowing Guderian's men to gain some more experience points and lure them into thinking that life is a bed of roses before that life hits them hard in the Smolensk area.

The German objective is to take Borisov, Berezina, Bobruisk and the bridges, after which the scenario will end (so that you accidentally do not capture Orsha and Mogilev too early [;)]) The Soviets will hold these positions.

Supply bases

Germany - Minsk
USSR - Bobruisk

OOBs from a map published in the Russian magazine ''Frontline Illustrations''.

This is the standalone version of Bobruisk with units you need for this scenario. There are two new ones, 3rd panzer division and elite Das Reich fighting its first battle.

I renamed the fighter group to JG 53 ''Pik As'' since JG 27 was sent to Afrika later in 1941; JG 27 only shows in Byalistok scenario as a non-core unit. There are two bomber groups, renamed to KG3 and KG53.

If anyone is interested in the historical battle order, here it is -

Southern group - 3. and 4. panzer division, 10. motorized infantry division, 1st cavalry division. Going to Bobruisk.

Central group - 10. panzer division and Das Reich. Going to Beresino.

Northern group - 17. and 18. panzer division, 29. motorized infantry division. Going to Borisov.

Grossdeutschland - garrisons Minsk.

Air force - only three of them, use them all but be careful, AG Center is moving so fast that supplies have not arrived yet so Luftwaffe can strike only a few targets.

In the campaign mode this scenario comes after Minsk and before Smolensk.
