Combat results screen question?

What does the area under the combat dice represent? In the picture, if I read it correctly, shows 3 defender steps lost and 2 attackers?

Yes that's correct. Also, steps that have been lost due to Direct Attack/Defense have a small explosion graphic superimposed over them.

Shouldn't there be an exposion for one of the defenders then? I see the 6 that was rolled from the armor unit in the south and I thought that was how it got to 3 defender steps lost.

Stryker,

The die in the CC display panel is grey, meaning that the defenders are not eligible for a Direct Attack. If the die is green it means it's all good for a Direct Attack attempt (P.85 of the manual).

You got an additional casualty due to the 'DR' result on the Retreat table (far right) as the unit would have lost a step trying to retreat through your ZOC. Niice... :-)
