It is Sad

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

It is Sad

...for me to see comrades in arms who a year ago were so united in our work on MCSE now so divided. I wish for better days and better understanding among all those who were for a time a "Band of Brothers" with me.

I'm still around, just not posting much these days. Presently, I'm working on my first v8.3 scenario, another Warrior bloodbath. [:D]

Still here, still there for that matter, as well as still several other places.

But I have noticed, wargaming forums (at least where I view it) have slowed down recently.

Doubt there is any "mysterious" cause though.

Nothing goes full tilt all the time.

I am hoping (says it guardedly) to spend most of this winter playing wargames more than discussing them. I have too many new ones I have not indulged sufficiently.

Hi Bill:

We are still around and still playing SPWAW and other Matrix games. Like Steve, I have finished two new scenarios for 8.3 and in the process of updating all other scens/campaigns since this is the final version.

Don't let all the banter and bulls**t impact your attitude towards your friends or co-designers on prior Matrix efforts. We all appreciate your friendship, advice, guidance, and effort to make this game, forum, and we, as gamers, better. We all owe you a great deal of thanks and appreciation. If there was ever a SPWAW MOH winner - it's you.

So smile my friend and look for sunnier days! Things change and we move on in life but we will never forget "Wild Bill" (Kunnel for those from the South), the Raiders, or all of the other great enjoyment you have brought to us with SPWAW and gaming knowledge! So, "Lock & Load" and let's get on with the battle!! (I love those old Marine sayings...[:D])

I sometimes disappear from the forum for months. Work causes that problem, so does my freaking WIFE. But when I have lot's of free time, I tend to play, play, play.

My sadness comes from seeing the recent complaining over various things-prices, patches....Jeez people, be grateful for the free things we have from Matrix. The prices for the games sold are reasonable. I even posted somewhere else that the games are undervalued.

Thanks everyone.

We Bill, we try and work for free too! We did the best we can do within the limits of the game but still many complain. That is human nature. Meanwhile, work on a new era of world war tactical games like spwaw goes on behind the scenes. Spwaw will remain a classic!

I am enjoying the Long Campaigns as well as Campaign Generated games for now. Are these absolutely 100 percent perfect and 100 percent Historical - NO - but they are a blast and extremely fun to play!! The AI is still dumb but can be a challenge during these battles and can give you core force a good fight. The AI picks are now mixed and vary. You can make these battles harder by selecting for an x2 Hard Battle if you win too many decisive. In one Long Campaign, I had the AI select an Infantry Battalion supported by Two 88 Paks and two Nashorns verse my USA core force. Well, I lost 60 percent of my armor to these guns but won the game with a minor.

Bill, give me a call sometime soon or shout me an email [;)]

Greatly encouraging. Bruce, I thank you for those very kind thoughts. I'll never forget the hard work you put in on MC-W. Your maps are among the best anywhere and having all the maps we needed to work with, nearly all of them provided by you added even more historicity to the project.

Your China Marines and Chosin campaigns are some of my very favorites. The Marines are well represented in this game and you've enhanced that a great deal with your work.

You are still all my comrades and have brought great joy to a grizzled old campaigner.

Probably the greatest joy of all in the work that I have done are the friends that I have made.

So I thank you, and all the rest for "hanging in there." Some things are worth it. This hobby and work certainly are.

I look forward to these 8.3 scenarios from you, the legendary Warrior, Jess M-4 and so many others.

Keep rockin' Harry! And I think the hex is positive for my good friend, the Hexed Gamer.

WB

You and so many others have taken the ground gained and moved onward to even better stuff for SPWAW, Warrior. I stand in awe of what the next generation is giving us through this tried and proven game. GO GUYS! The old Kunel is behind you.
