How do I

Post by Nighthawk12 »

How do I turn back on the casualties ??

To be precice, in the middle of a battle, the log in the lower right of the screen
no longer shows how many casualties are inflicted in a round of firing.
This also affects the casualties that I suffer.
a example of the log would be.
GE 105 mm firing bombardment.
Blank
Blank
CA rifle squad survivors disperse.
or
CA rifle squad firing at GE MG 34.
Blank
GE MMG pulling back.
GE MMG survivors disperse.

I am currently using the latest, and final version.
Can anyone help me??

Casualty reports were removed from the game log by Enhanced team (No, I'm not part of the team [;)] ). That was to increase the fog-of-war effect. Now you only see the casualties in those boxes in the middle of the screen. They appear only if you have LOS to your target so the result is that you'll get the info about enemy casualties only if you (some of your unit) see them.

I have not recieved casualty information since installing enhanced, regardless of LOS. But, that's a bit more realistic, because your not really looking to see what your've hit in an intense firefight, you're popping up from cover, firing a few rounds, and dropping back down. Only the MG is firing semi-constantly, (in bursts unless you have a bad MGer) without ducking back down. But, even then, obtaining detailed information about your target's casualties in the haet of a firefight, with most likely a limited visibility of the targets, plus them popping in and out of cover and all looking very similar doo to uniforms, hemets, ect... it seems to me to be difficult. Leave the casualty numbers for the aftermath of the battle.

The problem is that I am not getting them for my own troops either.

I can understand not getting them for the enemy.

I take it they just removed them all.

You should be. The only ones we removed were the ones from artillery barrages out of LOS of any friendly unit. If your unit is hit and takes casualties, you should see it. The problem otherwise is not a result of the Enhanced Mod; you either have a Preference seting wrong or your steel.pfr fiel is corrupt and needs to be replaced.

Steel.prf is in your Save folder. Delete it and the game "resets" all the Preferences to the Default settings. You can then change them back to whatever settings you like.

It becomes corrupted over time, which leads to all sorts of weird actions occuring in the game.

OK, just to throw a cat among the pigeons...

I've installed Enhanced FV using modswapper, and I'm still getting enemy casualty reports from artillery barrages (regardless of LOS). I've checked the version # etc at the menu screen, and the OOBs are correct.

Everything else is 'Enhanced' except the casualty reports (which should be gone).

I'm seeing the old style: 'GE Rifle Sqd receives 3 casualties', as well as the 'GE Rifle Sqd retreats' etc.

Weird, huh?

I dont see how because they were removed, they are not even there anymore.
