Richochets

Post by Gavris Narcis »

Take a look onto the richochets big problem: I make an experiment with the editor and sending 2 Stukas dive bombers (*) against 2 Sherman tanks for some individual aspect. But other aspect intrigued me very hard: a Stuka aproach tank, fired the MG's against it (2 times), after that launch the 250kg bomb onto the tank. O.K. Despite the fact that the message screen says 38% chanche to hit, the airplane missed the hit (I don't hear any sound of hitting and the visualization of the falling bomb was clear ''of-hex''), but imediatly after I hear the sound of the hit and the message ''top hit by 250kg....destroyed''. This ONLY sounds to me an ''richochet routine'' introduced into the game (very good ideea !). But here the big problem ! How the bomb richochet (and on what in open field ?)and hit the top of the tank and thus destroying it) ? It's impossible ! Now, here are the only 2 explanations:

1. The richochet means a ''near hit'' when the bomb hit the ground just next the tank and the explosion destroyed/dismantle it. Here the richochet is good implemented but we are faced with (very) incorect message display.
This must to be something like that: ''near hit- ...destroyed/dismantled''.
2. The richochet here is bad implemented.

I await your suggestion and ideas. Thanks.

There is a third - much simpler - explanation:

3. If you read '38% chance to hit' and then 'top hit...' then that is what happened. What you hear, or whatever graphics you see, are irrelevant. The End.

If it doesn't say 'ricochet' that's probably because there has been no ricochet.
