Wow...pretty great how the majority of naval museums are so well maintained. Too bad marginal museums like Cavalla are neglected.

Anyone noticing just how long it is taking for the Intrepid to be nudged out of the slip?[:)] They should get 2by3 in there to get them moving. Or Maybe David Heath, he lives in New York City does he not? Intrepid would be at Bayonne by now and the refit would be almost done today![:D]

Except for the last 2 or 3% of sys damage, which'd take three months to finish fixing...[:D]

I'm not a sailor but you'd think that they might have wanted to check that before they put her in reverse.

Apparently she doesn't have engines anymore; it's old skool tugs that will have to do the work...

This morning Fox News showed a video of 4 tugs trying to move her. They were pulling for all they were worth and she wasn't moving at all.

Edit: I stand corrected. There were 6 (and then 7) tugs trying, but I only saw 4 on the video. See CapSkillet's thread.

She got all of 12 feet, 4 meters, before running(?) aground.  There was an abnormally high tide too.  They think that the repairs will now be made where she sits instead of drydock.

Come on now. They were finally able to clean up Times Square. Seems like they should be able to figure a way to get her out of the mud.[;)]
