A long way to go, the flooding is increasing and slow speed will be a sentence of death.  I want in on the pool betting on sinking.  An officer saying to stop it wouldn't stop a sailor worth his salt.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Depends on the weather - a few storms, and she'll flood quickly... good weather - she should make it to port.

Weather affects flooding in WitP?  Interesting.  It makes sense.  I just never noticed that made any difference.

Interesting.

Pretty sure it doesn't... Real life, definitely; WitP, probably not.

How can you even tell what the weather is in an ocean hex?

i did a lot of experimenting with this... mainly at size 0 or size 1 ports where i had flooding ships... if the weather was good, it pumped out. If the weather was bad - flooding got worse. Usually what happens at sea, i notice that ships starting flooding much faster if there is bad weather in the quadrant. (Thunderstorms = [:(])

And no, from my experiments (and Mr. Frag's comments) speed does NOT effect the rate of flooding in the game (although by common sense, it should). Actually, in larger ships with severe flooding, you will see little difference in max speed vs. cruise (but not true in DDs...)

You're sure this wasn't just dice rolls?

Well, you can never be SURE - but it seemed like a very consistent effect (i.e. - bad weather *almost* always meant more flooding).

Hmmm... Well, I'll happily take your word for it, but I haven't noticed it myself.

Next time you have a ship kinda marginally staying afloat - check it out. i could be wrong, or changes in programming over the various patches might have affected this (although i don't think there was a deliberate attempt to change it.)

Well, seeing as how you've got connections on the inside now, maybe you could go to the source?[:D]

Rule Britannia! I suspect Hiryu will make it home safely, but what a coup for the plucky British!

Best wishes to Hiryu, hope she survives to sink EVERY Brit ship left.  [:'(]

The battle results were extremely unlucky, but the CAP should've wasted those Brit bombers.  Perhaps not enough CAP?  I always put LOTS up when operating so far from a friendly port.

The Japanese carriers were on 70% CAP. If I remember correctly about 42 Zeros faced off against 16 Seafires and 20 Avengers. Ordinarily this would have meant a slaughter of the British planes, but this game is being played under Nikmod, which sharply reduces the carnage of air to air combat. Almost all the Avengers were damaged but few were actually shot down. In a stock game I think the results would have been much different, but I am not complaining. This effect works both ways, and may help me in carrier battles later in the war that would otherwise be hopeless for Japan.
