February 10th,
Well, quite a surprise today!

H8K spots CV Formidable in Soerbaia! A sub tried to get a shot off at a british CA with that group, but got badly damaged in return. As if I wasn't already sure of the sighting report, a 40 zero sweep went in and met many fulmars and some sea hurricanes. Kill ratio was not great with the number of enemy fighters. A port attack was scheduled, but it looks like bad weather forced a postponement, and could do it again tomorrow. Nevertheless, another sweep and massive LBA attack is
in the works for tomorrow-- I want to show him he can't just expect to get away with this, and I can't have a huge fleet defending Java!

There was very nearly a run in between the brit CVs and the mini KB, but it looks like they narrowly missed each other, probably for the better, as the LBA should be able to do the job just as well.

Once again my opponent proves he is willing to throw his weight around with his naval forces, though he has made very few big land and air force moves.

Well let's see if we can't make him pay for his boldness tomorrow!

Looks like the CV group left to the west, very few a/c launch anyway due to poor weather, which may have saved him in this case. This time sweep gets 10:1 kill ratio as it probably should, with no pesky CV pilots up there. There is a small naval bomber strike on soerabaia, usually I don't do that given the heavy flak and fighters, but this time it does pay off, with with a torpedo striking the CL Sumatra.

If he swings them around to attack N Australia I will position the mini KB in the way.

Troops in Australia are steadily advancing against crushed Aussie troops, but I don't think I will be able to carry my offensive forward, at least until Java and Singapore are secured.

Zeros chew up Dutch airforce over soerabaia, 10:1 Kill rate easily against terrible enemy aircraft. Even against my unescorted naval bombers the Dutch fighters are so reduced in number and morale they just don't put up a big fight. That inability results in the sinking of DD Evertson and 2 torps into CL Sumatra. But big deal as its not the number of ships I was looking for.

I'm trying to figure out where the american CVS are and have been for a while, seeing as how my opponent is quite possibly crazy, I'm starting to think either surprise attack on Tokyo or sitting in a west coast port.[:D]

I am also starting a huge distribution of units at Tokyo to the forward bases.

In other news I don't know if my management of the industry is really up to par, but I'm trying. Naval Shipyard numbers have already increased to about 1500 points, which means
all CV's except the last three Unryus, Ryuho, and Junyo are accelerated.

Well, up to about February 15th now...

Wyndham falls easily to a sea invasion, there isn't anything left in N Oz to stop this, but the process will take a little while to obtain all the useful bases.

2 Invasions are in the process now, one finishing up in the S pacific, and another in the DEI. We'll see how they each go, but I'm afraid it won't be possible to fully provide air cover for the dutch one, but after all we are up against the dutch here. Some losses would be acceptable considering how few we lost at Darwin. At the other it is not the air cover that is the problem, but the number of guns we could be facing.

I am seeing very few subs being deployed, and very few ships are leaving ports, even those in danger of attack. Its like my opponent is not forming new tfs out of ships in port, which is certainly.... confusing. [&:] However, with the flak bonus, its not even logical to attack the ships sitting within easy reach of naval bombers.

Generally, I am feeling somewhat depressed by the ultimate and inevitable end that all campaigns eventually come to (excepting Honda v. Mogami) but I count that as an exception. I hadn't thought about it a lot before, but it can be depressing, and there really just seems there is nothing to do after a certain point as the Japanese. Of course one can't deprive the allied player of their fun.[:)]

Perhaps I should switch sides next time!

Not too much happening, the Java invasion is organizing, but unfortunately, it seems just impossible to neutralize the Dutch bombers even as they sit on the runway within easy reach at Soerabaia, but its the FLAK!!!! below 15k is suicidal, and nobodys hitting anything from 15k....[:(] So some losses probably must be accepted in the landing force.

Anyway-----> might I advise you check out the MILLER vs CASTOR TROY AAR...... its looking fun alright.

Haven't played out a full campaign yet,
but the way i see it its all about getting your lines drawn into the sand asap in order to
hit the allied camp as hard as possible when they start progressing.

so the good starting year is all about getting it done quick with minimal (CV) losses,
the real fun starts after that [8D]
