AVG kill tally oddity

Post by wga8888 »

It is now 02Jan42. My AVG subgroups prior to the last two turns of combat (repored 13 and 7 kills) had tallies of 15,17, 25 (58 total). I combined the AVG last turn as a surprise in one location and the group tally was now 27. I subdivided and the subgroup tally was now 18, 29, 25 (72 total), Recombined 45. Re-divided 18, 29, 25 (72 total) again. so there is some memory, but it seems erratic.

On the next turn, the AVG started combined with a reported 45 kills. The sum of the tally from the pilot list is 77. When I divide the group into three parts, all parts now have a tally of 0. Perhaps the new subgroups are considered new squadrons?

Bill, I've not spotted the oddity you mention but will look out for it from here on. What I have got in my game (which defies real world based explanation) is my opponent (allies) reporting a C47 unit with many kills (circa one hundred planes downed). I'm no database expert, but intuitively it makes sense to me this could be due to database slots not getting adequately purged between uses by different units.

I think someone said somewhere once long ago in the forum that this game is full of quirks and idiosyncrasies - this may turn out to be one of the great understatements of the early 21st century?

Aircraft units slots don't get reused. However, there are a number of British, and I believe Australian and Indian, units that change mission. If they started out as a fighter unit then got changed to transport, they will show a bunch of kills from when they were a fighter unit.
