How to set/reset Malaria?

Post by steveh11Matrix »

As the title suggests, I'd like to be able to switch Malaria on/off in a scenario for particular hexes. Can someone give me a pointer as to how, please?

Steve.

I believe you would need to mess with the PWhex file to do that. I'm not sure how that works though. [X(]

Okay, I did a little searching in the forums.

Mr. Frag and Captain Cruft have both posted a code snippet showing which areas and slots are coded for/against Malaria. It's hard coded and can't be modded, excpet by switching the base slot - if i want to make a base malaria-free, i have to sacrifice another one and make it malaria-ridden. [:(]

But:

Code: Select all

// city has drained swamps
 if(gPlace[base].size>8) answer=false;

Which appears to suggest another route: make the base big enough. But what does ".size>8" refer to in this case? Fortification? Port? Airbase? Something else?

Does anyone know?

I believe that it is a combo of the Airbase and the Port sizes.

I believe that it is a combo of the Airbase and the Port sizes.

And it doesn't work.

Malaria is hard coded by hex. You can change WHICH hexes are malaria free. This is only an issue in the "Malaria zone" - the tropics. In RHS we have done that - so Baguio City is malaria free. Manila, Clark, Singapore, Palembang (non RHS), and Soerabaja are malaria free hexes. I think there is one more.

Yeah, thanks. Like I said above, I'll work out something different. [:)]
