Initial questions

Post by vettim89 »

Am looking into modding.

I have some questions about the anti-soft/anti-hard values.

Most devices lack these values. For example naval guns do not seem to have them. AM I to assume the bombardment routine for ships uses the "effect" value?

Also how do you tell if a weapon is a DP mount - is it that there is a max altitude >0?

My biggest reason for getting into modding is that from what the AE team has said so far, ASW was not touched much. Would be very happy to here the generalities of what people have tried to tone down ASW. WHat has worked? What has not worked?

By far the best treatment for ASW in WITP are the changes El Cid made in RHS starting with version 7.91 with a little fixing over the next few versions. You can find extensive discussions of this on pages 7-9 of this sub-forum. These changes really increase difficulty of ASW warfare and make killing subs much more difficult. Some of the threads can be found here.

The problem with too many hits on subs by planes on naval search remains, but this appears to be addressed in AE.

Vettim,

A quick fix would be to alter the accuracy & effect of ASW weapons, and to use some of Sids ideas which I believe were to group the ASW weapons as "patterns" rather than individual weapons.
