Italian subs

Post by gwgardner »

Anyone try using the Italian sub force in a 'regular' naval role? I'm currently using it in that role, committing the entire sub force to the Central Med, and when I get battles against the Royal Navy, the Italians are coming out on top every time. Have had about 8 battles, anywhere from 5 to 7 ships on both sides (Italians all subs) and the British are taking a major beating.

Wish I had thought of this when playing Chuck. His Royal Navy had the Italian fleet whipped handily.

As an aside, I just read that that much of the Italian navy went to the Soviets after the War, as spoils of victory, and that modern Soviet designs still borrow some elements from those old Italian designs.

I hadn't noticed that with the Italians. However playing as the Germans, after going to war with Russia I put a large fleet of cruisers and battleships in the baltic. Russians attacked with a sub force of 5 to 6 subs and inflcited major damage.
We're gonna dance with who brung us.
