Is there a french translation of the game ?

Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

Is there a french translation of the game ?

Post by damastabongo »

Hello,

(I'm french, then sorry for my poor english)

I would like to ask to the developpers of this excellent wargame if there is a french translation of the game UI and of the manual.
If not, i can make a translation in french of the 106 pages of the manual (with a lot of help by somebodies who's speak better english then me, of course) because it is in PDF format. But, for the Game User Interface, i don't know how to find the original english text and how to replace by a french one.
If someone from the devloppement team can answer me, it would be nice. I think it will be a good things that a french version exist for the french wargamers community (in France there's a lot of people who don't understand the english as well as needed for playing such this complex game).

Wainting for this information... before beginning.

Best regards

Bongo,

You raise and interesting question. There is no doubt that translating external materials like the manuals can be done by just about anyone. I'm not 100% sure how that affects copyrights. As for modding the UI text, you need to be one of the developers with the code. All of the text and in many cases the spacing and placement of buttons and text boxes would need adjusting for different languages as not to cut off words. I'll send your question up the line to Erik Rutins and David Heath of Matrix Games to get their take on this situation.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Thanks for your reply.

I understand it is difficult to translate the game UI and i thank you very much to ask to the developpers.

Concerning the copyright. It is evident that before posting the translated manuel i will ask the autorization to the owner of the rights, even if i think it is a good things for the promotion of the game and for the publisher business.

In any case, thank you again for animating this forum... and being so reactive...

Regards

According to me I have not heard about the translation of the game in French, because it is not so easy job to produce an quality service of the translation of the game. And if so happens, then there would a sort of the differences in a playing of the games.
