No Prisoners?

Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge is a turn-based strategy that puts you command of a squad of specialists for hire in the genre’s biggest game-world yet: the African country Diamond Coast. Diamond Coast is a playground for the cruel and corrupt, each with their own agenda. Choose your friends wisely and buy an army of ruthless mercenaries to unleash mayhem on your foes. Choose “jobs” from different factions and complete them for cash to upgrade your weapons and hire more elite soldiers of fortune.

No Prisoners?

Post by Anthropoid »

Finally got this baby running last night and stayed up till 2AM playing it. That says a lot right there. GalCivII, my other previous buy, did nto evoke that kinda binging [:D]

The real beauty of this game is that it is all that is good about RTS games, but without the heart attack, and carpel tunnel syndrome.

One question though: do I pretty much just have to kill all "Enemy" guys? Can I never take them prisoner, or wound them then win them over to my side?? That is the only mild complaint I could think of right off the bat.

Controlling the camera is a bit awkward, but the in-game guides are quite good and it is overall a pretty easy to learn system. The one thing that kinda threw me off is, some of the documentation and in-game hint text sort of alludes to "don't just kill everything that you might think is an enemy . . ." but then in reality that seems to be what you are supposed to do to "Clear a Sector."

One other question: I just cleared Roadblock and all the dead guys disappared before I got a chance to search their bodies. I then just clicked "leave sector" without searching chests and stuff which I'm guessing was a mistake? I assume it is good practice to take the time to rummage all over a sector, talking to any NPCs and searching anything searchable after you clear it of "bad guys?"

for the bad guys, yea you have to kill them all, or break there morale and they will break and run (you don't really want to hire them, they are worse then your guys are :)

but remember there are other people out there who may not like to be shot at and gunned down

(you may not really want to kill off the mine forman)

crates and what not, you can go back in and seach them, the stuff stays in there them, there are not really many that have anything, but some of the ones that do, have good stuff in them (first two sectors are pretty much cannon fodder stuff, may be useable, but nothing really great (other then the M-1s if you don't have any rifles)

(road block, I do not think had any crates, there some stuff in the bad guys hut on the first zone, and in the zone with the bus, there are a few suitcases to look at)

before you get too far into the game, did you load any of the mods there were made ? (Reinforce is a Angel, and that other mod looks good, they really help improve the game/gameplay)

I'm having a great experience with this game. Look at on of the sticky topics on the top of this forum. It tells you which places you can loot, and other useful hints.

Last night I had a team of 5 and a cool thing that happen was at the road to airport. I had always have my team shoot ppl till their stats is dieing or dead :p and then the enemy officer had a pop up that said fall back. My new sniper (the guy with the green camo stripes on his face) had a svd sniper rifle poped the officer in the head dead. While the soldiers were moving away, some were not happy what (mr sniper) did and they went back to try to attack my squad. But we won in the end.

The airport was fun my sniper did most of the work. Venom my previous sniper will just be an infantry girl now :) also when somone is dieing I right click my weapon walk up to the dieing person and kick them to a dirt nap.

from reading it, I think the 2nd mod uses most of what Reinforced did to begin with, so I think then 2nd one, gives you both (I have not tried the 2nd one yet, just got it downloaded and installed)
