Resetting Default Video Settings

Post by Anthropoid »

Is there a way to do this without actually using the main game screen "Options" tab?

I reset to about 1068x960 (roughly) and the other number to "200" and that seems to have screwed me up. Now when I start the game all I get are wavey colored lines.

Usually in games there is a folder or file that you must delete to clear your settings. But its not time consuming to just click on default in the option menu.

Thanks Stealth . . . problem is, I cannot even SEE the Options menu. Once I click Play in the game-start window, and the game intro stuff starts I just get wavy staticky lines.

Do you know much about using a big screen TV as a computer monitor? Any idea what would be ideal res and whatever that other number is for a ~42" (diag) plasma big screen TV "monitor?"  [:D][:'(][:D]

I got impatient to have my fix so I just manuall deleted the Hired Guns folder and I am reinstalling it now. I tried to just reinstall without deleting, but I still had the same wavy lines screen problem.

An "Uninstall" app that you could right-click in the Start Menu listing of the game would be nifty too.

I only used my tv screen to see how games played. I will stick to my pc monitor for pc gaming and the big tv for watching movies. I had a feeling you were going to say you could not see the maiin menu.

Hey guys,

I handled Anthropoid's problem via PM but I'll throw it up here as well. To reset your settings to default go to this folder (if you installed HG to the default directory):

C:\Program Files\Matrix Games\Hired Guns

And delete this file: "system.cfg"

The next time you run HG all of your settings will be reset to default. Failing that, just shoot me a PM and I will personally send you the default cfg file to overwrite the old one with.

Also, you could right-click and select "Edit" or "Open With" and then choose Notepad and then manually edit your settings. Resolution is one among many other options in the config file.

Hey any suggestions on optimum settings for a really big screen (42" diag)?
