On the fence with this one.

In Hornet Leader PC, you command a squadron of the U.S. Navy’s elite F/A-18 Hornet Strike Fighters! You select the pilots and arm the aircraft based on real-world mission briefings. Once you reach your objective, you evaluate threats, and do what needs to be done to destroy the target!

On the fence with this one.

Matrix has so many great titles either out or soon to be released, and I am having a hard time deciding.

I have not played the board version of this game so I have no background with it. For those who own many Matrix titles, is this one among the must have titles? I must admit the price is right.

I am anxiously awaiting the release of John Tiller's Battleground Series, as I only own Antetiem from the original series, so this is a must buy.

Harpoon Classic Commanders Edition is on my must buy list because I am a hardcore Harpooner from way back. I just recently purchased Harpoon III to replace my copy of Harpoon II. I also have Harpoon 97 Classic, and the original Board game from GDW. I am getting ready to purchase Harpoon 4.1 from NWS Online to add to my collection.

Opinions are appreciated. [&o]

Thank you

Harpoon 4.1??   Did I miss something? [&:]

ah, never mind. I'm guessing this is a boardgame, not the Harpoon 4 vaporware....

I've never played the boardgame either, but if anything that has only increased my enjoyment of the title. No simple nostalgic love of the game here. I would strongly think its among the Matrix "Must-Have-Titles" because it fits a different niche. They are relatively quick games (depending on mission length) that you can play solitaire and it is also one of the more abstract titles with fairly clear but highly entertaining strategy choices.

I also think its perfectly priced. I suppose you could gripe about the lack of any multiple player functionality (though of course the game was never designed for that) or even the graphics, but the simple fact is the game doesn't require either.

Because of the large amount of open black space on many of the screenshots, I do think the game doesn't show well there. My initial interest dropped a bit when I saw that but rose again at the price. In the end, as I've said elsewhere, the game is way more fun that it would look like.

And that might actually be the best reason to buy it. This game is clearly "Fun", where-as other strategy/wargames fall more along the lines of "Work". Even if you prefer the later there should always be time for the former... :)

I'll give this one a try. I am more interested in game play over graphics any day.

One aspect of the game that I really enjoy is the people who frequent these forums. They have been very helpful when people have had questions, and they make everyone feel welcome.

Many thanks to everyone here.

There is much more to this game than first meets the eye. I can tell that I made a good choice. I can't think of any game that I have bought from Matrix that I have regreted.

Great job to the developers and publishers of this fine game.

One request would be to add the F/A-18E/F "Super Hornet" :
The multi-mission F/A-18E/F "Super Hornet" strike fighter is an upgrade of the combat-proven night strike F/A-18C/D. The Super Hornet will provide the battle group commander with a platform that has range, endurance, and ordnance carriage capabilities comparable to the A-6 which have been retired. The F/A-18E/F aircraft are 4.2 feet longer than earlier Hornets, have a 25% larger wing area, and carry 33% more internal fuel which will effectively increase mission range by 41% and endurance by 50%. The Super Hornet also incorporates two additional weapon stations. This allows for increased payload flexibility by mixing and matching air-to-air and/or air-to-ground ordnance. The aircraft can also carry the complete complement of "smart" weapons, including the newest joint weapons such as JDAM and JSOW.

Thanks, Alvin! Glad you're enjoying the game.

One thing I have noticed and been happy with is the loyalty and helpfulness of the community among Matrix players. It's something that has really inspired me to try and make this game the best I can make it. I've even decided to add a few more fixes to the patch so it can be even better, and we're thinking of releasing it to players as a beta patch possibly, so we can all try it together. Keep spreading the word about the game!

This game keeps you coming back for more. Just one more mission.

I would be happy to beta test the next patch. [;)]

I think I've seen enough to buy, but I'll wait on the patch.

imo, at first glance there isn't alot to this, but reading the different user reports, for the price I think it may be a bargain....and also I do not have a game like this in my collection.

So I expect when the patch comes out, I'll buy it.

The patch basically fixes nearly all the reported glitches with the game, and even adds a cool feature too, and it's tested well already so, I think you would be happy with your purchase. [:)]

It will be released (probably) as a public beta patch later today, just for this community to test. I think it'll be in the Matrix "members club" thingie. How's that for service? [8D]
