One problem

Post by Brockleigh »

I've put together a Canadian Playbook (which I'll be submitting to fbmax.com after R3 is released), and I've run into a small problem with a defensive play called '43 Fox' that I've created.

It's a play resigned to be a basic run-stopper. The assignments are:

Down Linemen: Run Rush
Linebackers: OLB's key on HB, MLB key on FB
Defensive Backs: Man up on the Receivers

Now the Manual does a pretty good job of detailing how to design Offensive plays, but makes no mention on how to work defensive plays, so this play might be FBR from the get-go.

Anyhow, upon the snap of the ball, if the Computer team calls this play, the computer has 12 guys popping up in their 2-point Ready pose and doing their best impressions of fire-hydrants. They don't rush, cover or react at all to whatever's called or happens.

I have seven other defensive plays in this playbook, and they all work fine. I wonder if anyone else has come across this.
It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum... and I'm all outta gum.

My guess is that you're probably putting commands in the wrong place. My suggestion would be to look at what the stock defensive plays are doing.

The defensive play design for R3 is just about 100% different compared to what you have now (although there is an upgrade path) so the three commands you're using now will perform slightly differently anyway.

Hey, Dave...

I remember other posts saying existing Defensive plays were incompatible with PDS 2.0, so that why I've only created eight defensive plays (besides the fact that defense is not me forté). I'll either scrap the play or completely rework it, but I was hoping that the "Key" command wasn't faulty in some way and screwing up the play.

I'll certainly look into your suggestion. Thanks.

Old defensive plays still work in the game, but they do not use the new logic commands, so theya re not as featured.

The Key On command should still work.

When you go Man-on-Man with the backs, are you setting up a coverage for each man?  I suspect you would because of the other plays you have made, but I must ask.
