How to create the "notched" German Turrets

Post by RyanCrierie »

I tore up my Panzer I designs and started from scratch again; using the plans and drawings from the Panzer Tracts, for it; and while redoing the turret, I re-realized how to do the "notched" turrets, so common on Panzer I, Panzer IV etc

Basically, what you do is you extrude a cylinder or what with two sections; and then you slowly weld the bottom and middle vertices except for the front ones.

I am curious what modeler you are using?  For anyone that uses 3DS Max, a lot of those shapes are all pre-built in the Extended Primitives.
