problem

Post by esbam2002 »

OK I have a double problem with two different games:

First Panzer Commander:

I am running Windows Vista on my laptop with 2G RAM, it is a Dell Inspiron 1420, loaded Panzer Command on it, and I can get as far as the first screen, the second asking about the game settings, screen size, Language, Video adapter, Bit depth and so on. After hitting ok what I get is a black screen and then I am back to looking at the first screen to play the game again. I changed the compatablity to everything from Windows XP, 98, 2000, and nothing is changing this.

I have my old laptop that runs XP on it and put the game there for a second option, but almost the same results. Difference is that with the XP computer I can get to where I select situations and then units, but after I hit "OK" I watch the game get ready to play, but when the loading bar is finish I get the same black screen and back to the first start screen.

Any advise before I just loose my mind?

Second Close Combat Cross of Iron:

I know this is a area for Panzer Command, but maybe someone can help here too. Again I am running Vista on my computer, and loaded Close Combat. At first it didn't work, then I changed the compatability to Windows 98/ME and it started working, even got to play it once. When I did it I did get a screen saying something about fft program or some compatability program and decoding, and I clicked no for now and everything ran fine. I got home that night and started it up again, and same screen for the compatability program, my mouse this time jumped and clicked yes always.

Now I can't get the game to run at all. When I click it I get the opening start screen, click play, then I hear the sond of the opening, but the screen is black, then nothing. I thought something might have been loading, so I went out to smoke and came back and same black screen. Gave it ctrl + alt + del to the task manager and stated that the program was not responding. I tried a few times, then decided on the final solution, or so I thought. I completely removed the game through the control panel, restarted, reinstalled, restarted, and still same thing, as well as it is still holding at the same compatablity settings for 98 and ME, and not resetting even though it was uninstalled. I as well have tried hitting the space bar to bypass the video, and still the same.

Any help on this?

First, I'm sorry we missed your post. Unfortunately we don't check all forums regularly, so using our Help Desk is the best way to get timely support.

Please update to Winterstorm v1.13 here as a starting point and let me know if that helps on either system. If not, please post a DxDiag.
