Scenario Maker crashes on Wine 1.5.26 when trying to export a force list. It works in some earlier versions, just tested 1.30.
One thing that is good about PlayonLinux is that it allows to quickly change which wine version to use.

Anyone had more luck with getting it to run on Linux based OS?

I got the Map Maker to work, it needs a workaround, though - map can be loaded only by choosing Ecternach.cop from the file menu. So, any map that is to be edited needs to be renamed to Ecternach.cop (and the original Ecternach.cop needs to be renamed).

The newest version of Wine has some kind of a bug that makes bombardment stall the game for some time.

I just stopped by to say I am experiencing this too. Game runs wonderfully on my MacBook Pro under Wine except that the game freezes for about 15-20 seconds any time I (1) select an artillery unit with the bombard range rings enabled; or (2) select an artillery unit and then click on the bombard order button.

My rough guess is that since this freeze happens in both of the above instances it has something to do with the game having to calculate bombard ranges or valid bombard targets, but then I know nothing about how the internals of the game work.

The other bug I noticed, besides the map editor crash discussed above, is that tooltips don't display properly. Instead of getting the tooltip I get a corrupted rectangle.

Other than those things, CO runs extremely well on Wine under OSX for me. A nice bonus since it means I can take CO along on business trips [:D].

I find exactly the same (small) problems...

That's interesting. There is no noticeable pause under Windows. In the first case above - ie select arty unit with bombard range rings - what is the arty unit's current task? Eg is the arty unit firing, on-call, on hold? Have you trtied to see if it occirs regardless of the unit's current task? Can you select an arty unit with range rings off for all three task types. Do other non-arty units with range rings suffer the same effect?

OK, I am running wine1.7.12 on a Mac Air OS X10.8.4

I tried a small scenario (Hell on Wheels, US side) under Wine v1.7.12+latest patch, issued orders at the Battalion level, checked the range circles at all speeds (including paused) and did not experience the delay. Same for 'Advance to the Sauer', playing Axis.

So it looks like it is not easy to reproduce the delay, sorry if I could not be more helpful!
