BFTB & HTTR Windows7 64 bit crashes

Post by Mel Spence »

Hi

I am running Windows 7 64 bit and BFTB with latest patch. The game brings up the start screen, but, when I click on New Game I get the following error message

CmdOps.exe has stopped working and the app exits to the desktop - bloody annoying to say the least!

Any suggestions as to what the issue might be?

Hi

I have the Windows 7 64 bit system too and on my computer is the new patched game running without problems. With some other games I had the same problem as you too. The problem was caused by the game being installed somewhere in the C:\Program Files (x84) folder. If you have installed the game somewhere in the Program Files (x84) folder, please uninstall and reinstall the game in the default folder C:\Matrix Games\
Greetings, emeg.

Reinstalled the game just to be sure it went into c:\matrix, it has and the damn thing still crashes once cmdops.exe runs

Mel,

You may have a corrupt installer. Can you please re-download and re-install and get back to me.

I had loads of crashes because of a back up program that kept polling, or something or other. Check what you have in your start-up folder in MSconfig, and in the services folder (hide all MS items and check). Disable everything that you don't need. Just a suggestion. I was very surprised when I found that the harmless little 'click-free' back-up program (it was in the start-up folder) was crashing the game every five minutes. Try turning off any real time virus checkers too. Anything that might do something as it loads. I have same set up as you and it runs fine.

Hi Guys

Finally narrowed it down to a build issue. Re built the PC and all working fine. Joys of playing games on a dev config!

thanks
