That's just wrong

I did a test run to see what is considered disabled. Apparently you have to blow an upper part and a lower part off to disable a titan. Upper parts include the arms and the side torsos. Lower parts include the CT, CBT, LoT and the legs. Of course you are disabled if your head is gone. In other words, it's possible to just be a head, two arms, and two torsos, and still be considered alive and functioning. Worst case scenario in a team game is while your other partner is still alive is that you are just a head (with a head mounted energy weapon and life support) and a torso part with your engine. Talk about a cockroach. Yeesh.

The Titan that would not die!
See the happy moron,
He doesn't give a damn,
I wish I were a moron,
My god! Perhaps I am!

Conditions for a titan being considered disabled can be found somewhere, the manual I think.

It's a pity, but the manual doesn't use the same words as the battle module for the same type of titan status.
Any description for disabled titans in the manual really means *destroyed* titans, and there's no example given for crippled titans that will be considered disabled by the battle module.

Just in case someone wants to ask, I use the latest manual of course. Maybe another update could help to set things straight.

Hmm, don't know what you mean, only case I can recall where the titan is not actually destroyed is when you're shutdown by heat and your heat reg is destroyed...

What I mean is, let's better use the same words in manual as used in the battle module.
E.g. the battle module makes a distinction between destroyed (red letters) and disabled titans (yellow letters). In the manual we read about disabled (meaning destroyed) and crippled titans. And the latter doesn't exactly respond to the titan status "disabled" shown by the module.
Don't you think this leads to some kind of confusion ?

Actually the 'crippled' that the manual reads has nothing to do with the 'disabled' in the battle module. The manual reads 'disabled' for every situation the battle module considers either disabled or destroyed. You just have to sort them out. A destroyed engine leads to a destroyed titan. All others lead to a disabled status (jock, heat reg).
'Crippled' is just that, the titan is crippled but *not* out of combat. You can move to a new target as that one is no longer a threat.~
Here's the quote:

"
The main goal of combat is to wreck your opponents before they do the same to you. A titan is
disabled if its engine is destroyed, its head is ripped off, it is shut down and its heat regulator is
destroyed, or the jock is killed. Sometimes it is enough to cripple it (destroy the gyro, rip off a leg)
and to concentrate on the next enemy.
"

Seems ok with me.

That's not true!!! If the jock is killed without the titan losing any parts (NBs are wonderful things) then the titan will not be disable or destroyed. It will be "ready".
I see your lips moving, but all I hear is: Blah Blah Blah, I'm a friggin moron.

I prefer a disabled titan over a crippled jock ! Or was it the other way round. I'm confused ...

In the battle module a titan is called destroyed if his engine or cockpit is destroyed or it's shutdown with destroyed heat regs.

Its called disabled if it has lost both one arm ( or the torso its connected to) AND the ability to make a decent stand skill which can be either due to a destroyed gyro or a ripped leg.

If all titans of one side are either destroyed or disabled the battle is lost.

Thanks, Larkin.
Your explanation is very welcomed and points out all necessary conditions.
Iceman, I think these two or three sentences need to be put into the manual. In another thread you already posted that you intend to work on the next update. Thanks to you as well.

Done. LMK what you all think. I've moved that section of the manual to a whole new topic, called it 'Winning'. Fixed the 'possible titan explosion' bug too

Winning

The main goal of combat is to wreck your opponents before they do the same to you.
A titan is considered destroyed if its engine or its cockpit is destroyed or if it is shut down
and its heat regulator is destroyed. It is considered disabled (but not destroyed) if it has lost
both one arm (or the torso it is connected to) and the ability to make a decent stand skill check,
which can be due either to a destroyed gyro or a ripped off leg.
If all titans in a team are either destroyed or disabled the battle is lost.
There can be situations where the jock dies but the titan is still unscathed, namely when hit by
radiation from neutron blasters or engine explosions. That titan is considered ready but still
counts as destroyed/disabled for winning conditions purposes.

Sometimes it is enough to cripple an opponent (destroy the gyro, rip off a leg) and concentrate
on the next. Those titans are not destroyed or disabled, but they do not pose as much a threat
as a fully functional one. You can target it again later and put it out of commission then.

Shame you didn't notice that the battle module's history (F5) says:
"Cockpit destroyed! Titan disabled!"
when the head is ripped off but the titan's status is displayed as 'DESTROYED' with F2...

Really, it's a shame. But do you want to start this discussion all over? I don't hope so.
I think with your paragraph about winning everyone who reads the manual will understand what's necessary. And, of course, I hope that all newbies really are reading it! Otherwise the RTFM crew will be happy to have a new victim.

No, I don't. It was just a remark.
I changed the paragraph a little, I think for the better. It's not available yet, Larkin already has it though.

I recently had a game in which i destroyed the CT of a titan but this didn't affect him at all! (His engine was in the LT)
Shouldn't a titan without a CT be disabled?
