Ideas for ToS-WS

I noticed an "armless" topic and wondered how hard it would be to make modular titans?
Do the spaces & tons get checked after the build stage? Could you either have a standard titan with small/large parts available, or a list of modular parts?
I've had to shuffle equipment sometimes to get the shoulder spaces I needed, yet had extra leg or arm spaces, or wished for one extra head space for that larger scanner...

Each class size has 4 types with differing numbers of slots for Arms/CT/ etc,... If one chassis doesn't fit exactly with your design try one of the others. You can see the exact slot numbers when picking out the chassis in the factory.

Making a specific class of titan, or a cost-set titan really hurts, then. Smaller titans would gain some effectiveness if they could be molded to fit for the one-in-five that have extra spaces or wouldn't work.
And what about the single-player that is starting with lights?

Although it's most irritating to dream up yet another 'perfect' design just to note that you can't fit that AC20/LRM12/GM6 anywhere just because you can't trade slots around, it helps to keep things balanced. But yes, I agree, sometimes it seems just a bit TOO limiting.

I proposed earlier that with a minor alteration to the rules, some interesting designs would be made possible, namely lighter titans with a large cannon and/or missile rack with a decent ammo count and at least somewhat stronger armor.

NEW PROPOSED RULE : How about being able to store the weapon and its ammo separately, but no further than one location away from each other? For example, an AC20 in CT could have its ammo stored in either CT, RT, LT, CBT or LoT, while a RT installation would allow ammo only in CT, RT or RA. At the expense of a bit higher recycle time and increased vulnerability due to having two vulnerable slots per weapon, you could also have a meaningful amount of armor to protect.

Any pitfalls I may have avoided seeing with this rule?

Yes, lots of work to code for a small improvement. During these days we must look for a good gain : work ratio.

Too bad.

But no panic, eventhough this feature belongs to those nice-haves, I bet you guys have a lot of must-haves too. Any rough estimates how many lines of code would have to be changed to make this happen? Hundreds? Thousands? Hundreds of thousands? <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
