Passenger Ships

Post by JWE »

Ok, so Joe Wilkerson gnawed on my behind about the passenger liners, and since we do have the Aquitania (withdraws on 3/3/42), why not the Queens (they withdray by 4/12/42). Well, why not.

Effectively, they are only in-game for a month or two, but they might be fun and interesting to have around for the opening couple of months. Since they are xAPs, and quite large, they can only go between SFO, Seattle, LA, Sydney, Durban, places like that.

Anybody stupid enough to attempt to use them for ops will get what they deserve.

[edit] yeah, ok, I kept her funnels in the Cunnard house colors. I happen to like it and I happen to do the art. You don't like it - sue me - and make them gray.

Oh no! The Aquitania has to be withdrawn??? Dang... I've gotten used to using her as the mainstay in my TFs transferring whole divisions....

BTW: I like the red stacks. Now why not a black hull and white superstructure?  [:'(]

So basically you're saying I only have a window of 5 months to line them up in a periscopes sights?

I'm guessing given the load time and distance you can use them, maybe 1 or 2 trips to Australia before they withdraw?

What happens if they are not in port when the withdrawal date hits?

Well I could've used that kind of help last summer painting the deck. Now you ask?

So will we be seeing a scenario including USS Enterprise with a couple squadrons of F-14, A-6, etc?? Would be a nasty little surprise for all the JFBs!!!

I remember SSG doing something like that years ago with the old Carriers at War. Was fun the first time through...

The Queen should have a bigger chance to cut a CL in half...

The problem with the Queens is the massive amount of fuel they use and soak up once back in harbour again...[&:] (RHS scenarios)..

Did the Wakefield make the cut? It always bothered me its' sister(West Point) made vanilla, and not this one.

At one time, the Wakefield (AKA SS Manhattan) had the ocean speed record for a passenger liner.

Ok, from the top;

Bradfordkay, yeah, why not, so here she is. Ya’ll can choose. My personal pile has ‘everybody’ in house colors. After the game releases I’ll schlep them out.

33Vyper, yes, can do that, but after the game releases, ok? Still have a few things left to work on. No dazzle though, but you can probably get TomLabel to do an overlay.

51st HD, ships in AE use the actual bunkerage and the actual fuel/mile specs, or if unavailable, the specific consumption rates vs HP of the engine plants used in the ships which define the class.

M10bob, so far as the big ones go, we gots West Point, Wakefield, Mount Vernon, President Coolidge, Hermitage, Monticello, Matsonia, Lurline, Monterey, Mariposa. The Brits contribute Aquitania, Arundel Castle, Empress of Scotland, Empress of Australia, Empress of Asia, Duchess of Bedford, Moreton Bay, Esperance Bay, Largs Bay (and of course, the Queens, now). Some have to withdraw fairly soon, but many hang around. Then there’s tons of medium and small passenger ships from British India, Grace Lines, Union Steamship, Straits Steamship, KPM, and on, and on.

It wasnt the Enterprise. It was the Nimitz.
