reinforcements

Post by gwgardner »

Ok, I've played from 1792 to 1796, and am totally confused with regard to reinforcements. playing with the latest patch. Please help:

1) On the provincial development window, there is an option to reinforce - I set it to the Swedish Army for each province. Is that what I should do if I want max reinforcements into the army?

2) I had the readiness down to 50% for a while, no reinforcements, then I upped it again, and got some reinforcements. So I take it that with lower readiness, no reinforements?

3) placing a depot in the province seems to have no effect on getting reinforcements - at least I don't see any more pouring in since I placed a depot.

4) I never got any reinforcements when the army was foraging. is that right?

5) the Swedish Army shows this strength: 28k/270k. I took that to mean that the current strength of all the divisions is 28K, and the fully reinforced divisions could potentially obtain a strength of 270k. Is that correct? I can never get the strength to go above 28k.

Thanks for any help.

1) No. That will send any new divisions built in that province to the Swedish Army.

2) I've never turned readiness below 100%, but I would think it simple serves to limit the maximum size of a division, not to limit reinforcements.

3) & 4) Armies used to get small amounts of reinforcements, but somewhere in the last year's patching that seems to have changes. I agree with you that armies set to forage don't seem to get reinforcements...but with a depot and set to supply they do get reinforcements...and the number of reinforcements seems higher when in 'friendly' territory.

5) No, the maximum is based on the maximum number of divisions you could place in that container.

The option on the development window sends newly built divisions automatically to auto-join to the military group or city which you selected.

Readiness multiplies the actual strength of all your divisions to get the effective strength. So if readiness is set to 50%, then a division with a strength of 6,000 will enter detailed combat with a strength of 3,000.

Divisions in-supply should be getting reinforcements, divisions that are out-of-supply should not. There are several things that affect reinforcements, and there may not be enough reinforcements available in the draft-pool to reinforce every division that's in-supply every turn.

The maximum strength for a military group reflects the approximate maximum strength of the military group fully stocked with divisions, so it may be much higher than the maximum strength of the military group with the current number of divisions attached to it.

Thanks for the replies.

So just to clarify, currently we cannot do as suggested in the Ralegh notes, which is set armies to forage, and allow reinforcements to make up forage losses? Or can we?
