RE: hello? anyone here?
Greetings, I am here at least two days a week as well, but to be honest I have nothing interesting to say.[:)]
I think everyone has seen enough pics of untextured saucers and engines.
My Star Trek mod is still progressing, even though very slowly because there is never enough time.
I also wonder what happened to Milo, he's not given an update for quite a while...

RE: hello? anyone here?
yeah, I do a fly by every so often...been kinda waiting on what's up with Gathering storm...and what, if any changes milo makes. It may be a whole new ball game afterwards...
RE: hello? anyone here?
Hi,
For one, I'm still lurking around. [:D]
I check these Starshatter Forums almost everyday. [:)]
I'm a memeber of the Grouper Starshatter family too. It's seems as dead when it comes to member posts. Although TurgotZ still has all of the great mod files available. [:'(]
I often give encouragement to new modders and their efforts. [;)]
I'm still working on my CARTEL modding efforts in Starshatter. I've developed two more craft for the Brotherhood of Iron forces. A Fighter and a Destroyer. They will be added to my next update along with two or three additional missions in my progressing Static Campaign... Raider Redux.
Creating interesting and challenging mission has proven a challenge. Getting the game to do all of the things I want can be frustrating. One does what one can withing the games limitations. Playtesting the missions is time consuming too. They just never seem to be perfected. Eventually, I just say... "that's good enough" and go on to the next one. Unfailingly, I end up going back and making changes. Oh well.
I recently been compiling voice files for use in my created missions. I've even begun to create some of my own original voice .wav files.
I've modified my crafts missiles. I've reduced their power and given two of the Brotherhood craft comparable versions of the missiles to balance the contest out a bit. Play balance should always be a consideration in any mod, either craft or missions. These changes will be reflected in my next CARTEL.zip update.
There is always more I could do and more often... but I do this for the enjoyment of it. When it starts feeling like work... I take a break. Hey.... after all, I am retired. [:D]
I still have a desire, in the back of my head, to add a shuttle craft and a LCA to the Cartel fleet. Not to mention a Research Ship/Station. Then I have to add missions that put these ship to work. You get the picture. It's never done. That's the great thing about it.
I'd like to encourage all you great craft modelers out there that haven't created missions or static campaigns for your ship/fleet creations to contend in, to do so.
I want to thank Gillbo for his deffing assistance recently. As most modders know, deffing is one of the most time consuming part of modding Starshatter. Thanks Gillbo.
I want to, once again, plug the Completed Mods available at the Grouper Starshatter site. Turgotz has a LOT of mods readily avialable there for download. [:)]
Keep em flying guys. [:D]

I'm still here too. I've been fiddling around with a few things myself. I think I may have figured out a design for a carrier that will eliminate that pesky problem of fighters getting shot down while in que to land.

RE: hello? anyone here?
Lurking... I check in to see if Milo's posted a Gathering Storm update.
RE: hello? anyone here?
I have (almost) always been active around here. I have got so much flying hours though that I'm bored... no, it's not just with Starshatter, it's everything with space fighters. I'm going to get addicted some day again though

I check here once in a while too if there's news about GS. My fleets are on hold right now... but they were somewhat complete anyway

RE: hello? anyone here?
Well, I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.
I check this board almost once a day...i'm waiting for G/S and Magic 2 as well.
I've dumped a few ships from Homeworld2 that I was working on, onto the Grouper board. They have all the source files so maybe someone else can grab them and run with it. I'll likely go back to HW2 defs, someday.
In the meantime, I've been working on a series of ships of a type that I always wanted to, way back when I first bought S/S. Ship designs and tactics based on the following question: if you REALLY wanted to design a space travelling warship, meant to "go in harm's way", and given all we currently know about space travel and naval history and naval warfare (on Earth, anyway), what would its design be like? Without regard to ANY visual appeal or "Wow factor". Straight logic only.
What kind of tactics? What kind of support ships? What kind of weapon deployment?
Starshatter has some weaknessess trying to do all this, but its still the best (and for me, easiest) simulation around to try this on.
I have some ships finished to a point, but I'm not sure enough about them to make them public....and yes, compared to many (read: all) ship designs I've seen from other S/S modders, they are brutally ugly. So is a Desert Eagle .45 compared to a mother-of-pearl inlaid silver dagger...but which one would you rather have in a knife fight?

RE: hello? anyone here?
I'm here too. Hello to all: I just bought the game about a week ago. It is great and I have become a big fan. I have played a lot of other space games X2, Freelancer, HW, HW2, Iwar FS2, and this one is tops. (in fact, if any of you have played FL on fiiks or PB2 you may know me.)
I remember downloading one of the original Demo's from Milo's old site a few years back. I have been Lurking around here the past few weeks trying to read all the posts on both forums old and new to catch up.
Congrats to all you modders. [&o] I have been checking your stuff out on grouper and have been enjoying looking at all the new ships. Thank you all for all your hard work. I may try to get into mission modding in the future.
I am going back to try to complete all the campaigns in a Capital ship after completing it once in various fighters.
ciao ciao

Update/upgrade to Starshatter. It's been in the works for a while now. Pictures of some of the re-worked ships are in the gallery at Starshatter.com.

Still around, don't look here verry often though.
RE: hello? anyone here?
So with starshatter central down, where can we find info on tips/strategies or mods to download? I've been looking for a game like this for years but I just found it last week, thus continuing my tradition of always being the last to know about everything cool. I tried to get into the grouper site but it isn't accepting new members and I couldn't figure out how to download anything but a couple of pictures from the public area.
