Problems with Scrambling and Indoor Football Rules...

Post by Magnum357 »

David, just thought I would let you know that I'm having some problems with the Indoor Rules and Scrambling. I've been messing around with the Indoor Football Rules more often now (been thinking about making an Arena Football Mode) and it seems scrambling is extremely high with the Indoor Rules option.

I created a Custom League of 4 teams and used the Indoor Rules with slight variations in Timing rules is all. Whenever I make a Pass play, the QB hardly takes any time to decide to scramble most of the time. I even used my "DataConstant" utility on fbmax.com to decrease the odds of scrambling from occuring. But no matter what I do, the QB wants to scramble a huge percentage of time and its very hard to design any Pass play too keep this undercontrol.

Just thought I would let you know of my problem.

magnum,

i think you have to give recievers a "Look For Pass" at the first command point and/or make the QB's drop a little shorter and without the QB using a "Wait" command. I uploaded playbooks to FBMax thatlast night called Default 8 Man, 11 Man and 12 Man; i red-did all the default plays pretty much in this way. I don't have a scrambling problem; of course, i made a few changes to the 8-Man without testing again but it should be ok the way it is.

I changed the QB scramble threshold to .1 and it fixes this. I think the closer proximity of the DL is why they take flight so quickly in the indoor league.

Yes, I agree with Deft on this. Last night, I notice that my Custom Built 8 Man Defensive Plays had the Defensive Linemen we not exactly lined up with the Offenive Lineman of the Offensive Play. I readjusted there alienment on my Defensive Custom Plays and it seemed to have helped keep the QB scrambling down a little. Not sure why the DL alienment would do that. I might give jcd38's suggestiong a try with the "Look for pass" logic at the first command point, but that seems kinda odd to do that.

I tried downloading the 8man default playbook and it helped alot it even bumped up the completion percentage went up too. The only problem was that there was alot of short passes.

tbird,

the playbooks do need to be refined some more; i.e. too many short passes. i'm working on it. any suggestions or info is welcome. feel free to adjust them yourself; we can compare notes. thx

in the 11 man playbook i was testing last night i'm getting long completions. right now i'm adjusting the player attribute ranges to see what affect they're having; i tweaked them down from my last version of the maindata file. the latest file isn't posted yet; i'm waiting to post it until i get some more time to work with it.
some theories i have are the linebackers and running backs speed were set too low in comparison to other positions. i'm exploring finding the right "balance" of the ratings for each position in relation to each other. i upped the running backs and linebackers speed and it seems to be more realistic; i.e the re-positioning of the linebackers in my plays and upping the speed rating of the linebackers seems to have helped cut down on too many long gains on running plays to the outside.
my adjustments to the player ratings also is somewhat more spread out so there is more of a gap between the higher and lower skilled players; per each rating. i.e. intelleigence for QB's is know more spread; so know we should possibly see more interceptions because more qb's won't have such a high rating in intelligence.etc.
