RE: Game stops responding

Post by Neepster »

I want to second the mouse activity as a potential root cause. By clicking around a few times during combat in France 40, I am able to get the program to lock hard pretty often. I think this might be the root cause of some of this random locking. For the moment, I will attempt to refrain from doing this and try to save often, but it would be nice if this could get fixed.

Thanks.

We do know that there is a potential problem with the sound, and also with displaying more than 132 characters on the screen (winter is likely to cause this.)

We're working on a patch to address these issues, and they may fix some problems people are having.

Okidokie: Crash report. has happened /at least/ two dozen times (wanted to make sure it was real). It cannot be repeated by doing the same thing over and over, but instead happens randomly (appears random, anyways) when I click on or scroll over the mini-map.

Veers,

Ralph's reply would be more authoritative on this, but it looks like an issue that TOAW III is having with strings greater than 132 characters long, judging from the information panel display. We're working on another patch that should take take of that.

Right'o. Knew a patch was comign out to fix that problem, but the only thing I have seen on what would cause that problem was 'winter'. :) What leads you to believe that is the cause here? Not that I'm disagreeing, just curious.

"Winter" was mentioned because it adds additional characters to the hex description string. It's possible it could occur without winter, though. This is one issue that is repeatable. If you drag the mouse over the mini-map, it should cause the crash to occur each time it hovers over the particular long-winded hex.
