Combined Arms

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Combined Arms

Isn't this a direct competitor to CA? Battalion sized, 12 hr turns, HQ effects? Matrix, don't force me to choose!

Of course, if I was a conspiracy theorist I'd say that CA was delayed to let this one out and the delayed again long enough to make me buy both. But I'm not, so I won't.

Battlefront and Combined arms are developed by 2 different groups, so i doubt that one have delayed the other.

Also combined arms is WEGO as opposed to Battlefront being IGO-UGO.
I have the distinct impression both will be very different.

...if the former is ever released. This might help to get the lead out. [:'(]

Yeah, CA won't be out for many months it seems and the WEGO system will make planning and execution of combat much different; something I have always missed with the DB games.

I'm looking forward to this game very much.

As for CA, it is a bit different...

PS I will buy both as battalion level is my favourite level to play at.

At the risk of fanning flames--which I don't want to do--I'd say this is SSG's entry into the level usually occupied by Tiller's Panzer Campaigns games. I can't wait to try it out!

Hi,

I have to admit that my favourite wargame scale is the Squad Leader, Combat Mission, Panzer Commander scale [;)].

However, when it comes to operational games, I agree with others here that the battalion and one km/mile to the hex is my favoured scale of game.

All sounds good. (I just have the odd reservation about direct fire combat in operational games, I tend to view that they do not mix, but time will tell.)

All the best,
Kip.

I play a lot of Panzer Campaign PBEM & like the scale. I'm interested in SSG's Battlefront for that reason. The more choices the better I say! [&o]

Are there any screen shots of all four maps that will ship with BF?
(Saipan, Market Garden, Gazala and Novorossik)

Novorossik is the one I have the least knowledge of.  Any good links to the story of this battle?
