RE: Release?
Ok, We've waited a month now. Is there a realease date NOW?
RE: Release?
Not yet, but new beta releases are going to the more private internal team so maybe a couple of months or less. I doubt there is a firm release date at this point.

RE: Release?
I am so glad someone is doing something with this classic game, one question
WILL IT RUN on windows.
I bought the original back in the day (1992), I had a computer that would run it at max performance and it still crashed. I remember it would have to be saved inprogress and re boot the computer to defrag the ram. And not to forget having a Harpoon boot disk to set you computer up to run it.
I was friends with one of the designers and he could offer not help. I then bought Harpoon 2, better graphics, but still it crashed. (How long did it take you to turn off the video of missles being launched).
I then bought the redux version online and it still crashed.
Ok, I am done venting.....I will again go into the breech and buy this game.... I just want it to work.

RE: Release?
The game is still in Beta testing. The latest release is B15 and it most certainly runs on Window XP. It has been running very stably on XP at least as long as the Harpoon Classic 2002 edition has been on sale.
Looks like you had the experience of everyone else who played Harpoon Classic and Harpoon2. I, too, turned off my missile launch animation after the first few times! [:D]

RE: Release?
I just spent the last 15 minutes with my CD of Harpoon 98 in hand & trying to decide if I should load it back on the hard drive or continue waiting for the Commander's Edition. Any advice?
RE: Release?
Why deny yourself the pleasure of playing Harpoon? [;)]
However, I am not certain how compatible Harpoon97 may be with WindowsXP. IIRC, H97 ran okay with Windows 95 or 98, but wasn't happy with WinXP, according to a number of different messages posted on various fora.
Good luck to you and hope that it gets up and running for ya' [8D]

RE: Release?
I run HC97 just dandily on XP, if you have trouble starting the game, give a holler, the opening animation can trip up some computers.

RE: Release?
Seems to be working fine. But I still would like a progress report on the Commanders Edition. Any chance of coaxing a predicition?
RE: Release?
My last prediction said it would be about two months from August 19th but that I can say with certainly was too ambitious, that's all of my prognosticating for now
I can say HCCE is a worthy improvement over HC97, before HC2002 you couldn't pry me away from Winharp (the Win3.1 generation of HC), HC97 interface just wasn't my cup of tea. But HC2002 won me over and HCCE is many steps farther than HC2002.

RE: Release?
Sounds good to me. I have hundreds of hours in the original release from 360. So, I am much more interested in quality improvements than a rushed project. Take your time.

RE: Release?
Hey TonyE,
It's getting close enough to Christmas that I need to start planning what Matrix release I will be finding under the tree. Any chance for another prognostication?

RE: Release?
Hehe, I keep wildly missing and you keep coming back for more! Sadly/Thankfully it isn't me taking my time, I don't even have a current beta... I'm just a better informed than most player at present. Maybe I'll prognosticate again this weekend, sounds like a fun activity and I need some time to make up good reasons for what I type

Okay, almost forgot to end the weekend with another horribly inaccurate prediction. I'll say the product will be available for digital download on January 15th (my brother's birthday).

RE: Release?
I'll see your January 15th and raise you one month. The official, non-justifiable, bogus and uneducated prediction from Justascratch Consultants is February 15th 2007.

RE: Release?
Ok, I'll make a prediction - Jan/Feb
We took the beta internal as we are updating Graphics and Sounds.
Tony - is now (again) part of the team. For this release he and his crew (Brad and Akula) are helping with the databases and scenarios. After we release they will be taking over the product and adding some selected cool features.

RE: Release?
Thanks Uncle H! I am set to purchase a copy whenever it is released. I guess I'm just thankful this ol' game is still on the market. While I do enjoy the H3 game, there is just something about the playability of the original that keeps me interested.
Thanks for all the work.

RE: Release?
It'll have to be toothpicks or tiddlywinks cuz I need my cash for the game!
RE: Release?
Any update on release date ETA for HCCE 2005? I mistakenly purchased H3 ANW, before I located my HCCE 2002 installer and realized that was by far my Harpoon of choice. I think the HCCE interface blows away what H3 ANW offers. Anyway, I look forward to HCCE 2005, and any updates as too availability date would be appreciated.
Thanks
