Okay, I know I'm going to shoot myself in the foot here, but, what do cockpit hits do beyond damaging the jock? You say critical cockpit hits but it's a part that doesn't accumulate damage. So...?

Isn't jock damage enough? If you're lucky you get the jock bleeding or unconscious.
The cockpit does not accumulate damage, but it can be destroyed. I think that affects your mobility more than anything else.

Ok that is the last time I try to make humour and historical analogy.

Yes down with no stand up viable are not 'Really' dead Titans, but their offensive potential is just downed to quite nothing, and they are easy to finally dispose.

Yes Head shoot are the quickest killer, and gyro hit are more efficient. But all that tactical need some ubber pilots with high skill so he can easily Called shoot on head and/or LowTorso.

Hitting Legs is easier that is why I shoot there. Also Gyro tend to be behind a large body of armor plate, and by the time you get at them the ennemy AT should be already crippled to death.

Perhaps you can use Meson to get at it faster but my purpose was long range snipping...

Also I didn't think I invented the shoot the leg technique, nor have anyone here invented any technique in AT warfare than haven't be invented a while ago by someone else. I guess the : shoot the leg strategy must have been a favorite since the first Batteltech game ( and I mean BOARDGAME ).

Also Iceman I find you unnecessary rude in your answer , and the way you like to talk to people ( in this case, me ) like if you are explaining complex quanta theory to a retarded child really hurt me , so I guess I will have a try at this wonderfull option I saw in Matrix forum : Ignore post from this people....

I must add that this year I was extremly creative Did I tell you that shield heat will now be calculated linear, not in jumps dependant on power / 2.5 ?

and no, it will not make it into v1.4

Shields don't have effect on dense wood fires ? I'm surprised. I think they have.

As someone that has seen this process for 3 years? I agree this has been the most creative year for Vicious Byte. You knocked out about a zillion betas this summer. What else, new titans, new arenas, online gameplay, Duels. The list just keeps growing. Its hard to believe that we're doing more improvements for Warring Suns then we ever did for v1.4. but we are.

Yes, Napolean started that because he was so short all he could reach with his sword was his enemy's legs.
I see your lips moving, but all I hear is: Blah Blah Blah, I'm a friggin moron.

LOL,

Even if I dont really consider Napoleon as much french as Corsican or Italian.
And I even doubt he ever draw a sword.
But his main battleplan was alway s to put the ennemy in such a position he choose when to engage battle, and kill him with big effect with his awesome artillery, definetly a "Leg Shooter".

I guess Hannibal is the Swarm them with wolfpack while fast titan get them.

The more I think about the more it seems that "Headshooter snipers" are more efficient in duel where they can concentrate on one target without being too worried about other intervention than in many to many, where there is plenty of taregt and the urge to disable many of them quick before some of the HtH design reach Chainsaw range. Of course there is other AT to defend them, but is it me or it seems that melee AT can always bypass blocker? all in all , not abad thing for them 'cause they will be really nerfed if they have to stop in each and every (head on )melee.

And I didn't say they have *no* effect, I said they're not *effective* , as I've shown you a while back. Less heat will be produced if the shield is off. However, if the shield is on, you'll get some protection from fire *and* from energy weapons. But as I said in my post, if you turn on your shield just to protect you from *forest fires*, you're actually making a mistake. Am I wrong? With the old (actual in v1.4) rules of course.

You are right AND wrong. You describe it the way it should be ( and wil be in ToS WS though big shields generate less heat ). BUT due to a code bug in v1.4 small shields decrease burning heat by 80% and big shields only by 30% and not vice versa

Geh?! I thought you said this latest release of v1.4b was bug-free Larkin. No wonder shield 1 seemed so effective against forest fires.

So how should we handle this, you fix the bug or I change the guide?

The next beta will, for sure

There are so many places ( 50.000 lines ) to place bugs I can't refuse.

lol!
i thought this was going commercial? and yet you keep putting out freeware...
Not that i'm arguing of course. free is always better... it's a lot less taxing on the wallet... =-)
don't get me wrong, i'm doubtless going to buy this game when it's done... even as it is (were it bug free) i'd pay $10 for it if it weren't free. =-)
