From the creators of Crown of Glory come an epic tale of North Vs. South. By combining area movement on the grand scale with optional hex based tactical battles when they occur, Forge of Freedom provides something for every strategy gamer. Control economic development, political development with governers and foreign nations, and use your military to win the bloodiest war in US history.

first impressions

Post by tristandracul »

The first thing I have to say is: GREAT!
Just did some playtest runs and I'm overwhelmed by the depth and options of this game, that surpasses the already good CoG in many ways. Used to play the old CivGenerals and always wished that this game would find a worthy sucessor somehow.
On the downhand this is the second game (the other being Point of Attack 2) that brings problems not by the lack of graphic memory but RAM. Having only 512 MB on my system, I turned to low-res, disabled sound and still only dare to play the strategic game, which btw is demanding enough already[:D]
Hope the patch will fix those regular crashes when having captured Ft.Hill with the CSA[;)] Still getting into the gameplay slowly. The manual is good, but I'm a trial and error player somehow.
And many thanks to this active community for all those very helpful and revealing posts!

Yes, while I have a lot of suggestions like everyone else, the more I play this game, the more impressed I become. I slowly discover that many of my ideas have already been addressed, perhaps indirectly, by some feature of the game.
