For those of you that have been waiting anxiously for our next game covering WWII in Russia, the bad news is you're going to have to wait a little longer. The good news is that this game features prominently in 2by3's future plans. With Keith no longer having time to be a lead programmer for 2by3, Gary and I have to look for projects that we know we can do with limited help from Keith and for which there's a solid market.

The Russian Front game and those that will follow from that system fit the bill. Our plan is that while we finish Civil War, Keith will put the finishing touches on the toolkit that Gary will need to be able to program Eastern Front. The design and data work was far along when it was shelved several years ago. We had hoped that Mike Wood would be able to get the project going back in 2005, but that didn't work out. Once we have the toolkit from Keith and Civil War completed, our first priority is going to be Russian Front. So what does that mean in terms of timeframes? Realistically it means sometime in 2008. With our luck, they'll probably be 5 new Russian Front games out by then. We're confident though, that even if that is the case, those of you who have enjoyed Gary's previous adventures on the eastern front will enjoy this one

Hm, it seems that we have to wait for WIE at least two years[:(]. But, i'm willing to do that - i must teach evil Englander a lesson (he is so lucky in WiTP and he thinks he is a great player[:'(])

For Joel (if he reads this): sorry to hear about your loss. We are never ready for this when it happens...

But will the Civil War game and War In Europe have the Zero and Uber Cap Bonus?[:'(]
Take my word for it. You never want to be involved in an “International Incident”.

I think there should be a southern cavalry bonus. Also, cargo ships should be convertible into blockade runners. [:D]

For me, the most notable thing in the journal entry was the sad news about the death of Joel's parents in the same year. Hang in there, Joel.

First, let me say I appreciate the sympathy expressed regarding my parents. Second, yes the south has a major cavalry advantage (faster training from green mounted units to regular cavalry units and generally better cavalry leaders in the early years of the war). Players can purchase blockade runners (although we don't let players convert transports). Look for testing to begin later this month on CW (if you're interested, you can email 2by3@2by3games.com and I'll get back to you later this month).

Joel, let me add my condolences as well. Having lost my mom in October '04, I can empathize.
