Checkpoint 5 was mine for hours and Checkpoint 4 is being contested, at least. The enemy cluster in the East, next to the bridge, consists of artillery units and the Inf Bde HQ. If my eyes didn't fool me, contesting checkpoint 4 and pounding those artys in the most evil way let the win-meter move to its current position - it was just a micro-millimeter tho. [:D]

Any enemy unit moving towards checkpoint 5, or towards the AT defenses east of Larissa, will get a serious pounding courtesy of GoodGuy's grouped artys (TM [;)]).

I cannot reach 1000 APerFP points now, since I opted for moving my reserves to these checkpoints. Once the artys have exited, these points may amount to something between ~920 to ~960 , so I have to wait and hold out until 23:00. I may just leave the arty in place, in order to piss off their few remaining armoured assets in the east and the 2 armoured units at checkpoint 4.

By the way, I was too lazy to exchange the mini-map here, again.

Well, I'm a bit disappointed, as the win-meter looked like it would be a decisive victory.
I know, it's not uber-accurate, but still.... it looked more like a decisive one,
especially if you're looking at the kills:
  • 11443 enemies killed,
  • 300+ AFVs destroyed and
  • 51 enemy units surrendered, while
  • friendly casualties amounted to ~2500.

That doesn't sound like a marginal victory, does it? [:D][;)]

EDIT: I reloaded a savegame and replayed the last day 2 times... I got 1000 APerFP points by withdrawing additional units + giving up checkpoints (4 + 5) (all other points were maxed out already, in all runs), finished the scenario around afternoon of Day 5 each time, but this didn't let the win-meter move further to the right - it even moved to the left on one run (I lost the Larissa objective because 2 enemy units were contesting the objective).
So i guess that's the maximum you can achieve when conducting this left-turn-strategy, if you don't capture/hold the objective in the middle (near the marshes ... checkpoint 3?), which was really impossible to capture with the scarce ressources at hand in the middle and with the cluster of AI units going back and forth at the marshes.

I'm not sure if some additional 3 points (received if another checkpoint would have been captured) would have made a difference win-meter-wise, anyways.

I hope it wasn't too boring.

Great effort GoodGuy, really great [&o][&o]

The AAR is really nice too.

Being three points short from a decisive is really impressive. Actually, considering that I gave up trying to get a draw I wonder if I should stop playing altogether! :-)

Thanks

Michele

Nah, don't stop, keep trying. Maybe try my plan, or let the Pz Regt move right (as far right as possible) then south east, then let it perform a turn to the west (at the bottom) to speed to Larissa.
On another attempt months ago, I managed to kill quite a few enemy arty units (only 3 or 4 were left on the map and they were reduced to 80 troops or even less) that way, plus I trashed an entire Tank regiment down there. It can be done. [:D]

I used to say that the Malta scenario was the only real challenge for me in COTA, and that I was somewhat disappointed regarding the difficulty level of the other scenarios. I admit that this scenario here puts up quite a challenge too, no doubt. [8D][:)]

Photoshop. It contains predefined markers/symbols/arrows, so I just added colors/3D effects. Other symbols are a mix of several predefined symbols, and some symbols were just drawn from scratch using the standard tools.
