Ammo Reload

Post by siRkid »

I've noticed that when I return to base with a partial load in my weapon the game sets it to zero. I know this is happening with my large weapons like flame throwers and chem weapons. I used a flamethrower twice last battle and when I got back to base the weapon was empty. This needs to be fixed because it is expensive to make that ammo.

The same with my lasers. I just thought that I did not reload, but they wre completely empty!

Off topic question here... do you still play WiTP?

I've never been much for mods. I hear the developers have been in contact with some of the modders. Maybe some of their changes will make it into the offical patch. I consider this one a bug and it needs to get fixed.[:-]

Its not a bug, just a design decision that happens to match how X-Com handled it. You notice it more here because money is tighter.

Is there a break point? If > 50% full reload if < 50% empty reload? If so, I can live with it other wise I'll be using a lot of ammo.

You aren't kidding that money is tighter...if there is one aspect of this game that I have not done well in, is keeping my finances in order....I'm always in debt by the third week of the month....perhaps I should lay off building any extra bases and stick with one for at least a year, or maybe that will just be worse....uggh!

I have WiTP, Uncommon Valor, and War Plan Orange but I don't play any of the three anymore. Not really my kind of games right now. I wish I could do better in WiTP.

The game starts to load and just before it gets to the planets on the opening screen, it goes back to desktop.

Wasn't that an X-Com bug, not a design decision? If I remember correctly, the 1.4 patch for X-Com: UFO Defense fixed that bug.

I got it working. Amazing how much better this game is with a good mod!

Actually, the reload thing is part of the game. What else does one have to do with their engineers? I kinda liked 'running low' on some ammo, made things more interesting. Heck, 15 months into the game and I just now *might* stop using basic rifle and shotgun. Besides, until you get plama tech, lasers are very ineffective against armored machine enemies. Gotta love that shotgun!

Some missions I loaded up with rocket launchers since basic RL missiles are 'buyable' and we just blew everything up (I added a few home-made inflammable missiles just for the heck of it). In one mission, my whole team shot at a target, kept hitting and hitting, and then the last guy dropped the enemy. And that was ONE enemy (I now take a mix of weaponry for any occasion, and have to state what a nice design feature this is, why forcing me, yes me, to use all my assets and to rearm people every mission ... gee, sounds like a 'tactical problem'.) [:D]

Once again, it should be clear to any as to why I do not use mods! If you have nearly unlimited ammo, well, that makes it EASY.

About the only mod I would like would be to change the soldier names since I get too many repeats. (John Hill, Larry Hill, etc.)

BTW, I only have 20 soldiers. There may be 24 pics or somesuch, but I think 20 is max since I have not had a new soldier in months. Then again, maybe I will get more eventually, ya never know.

You can change them yourself, go into the solider screen, click on a soldier's name and the change name screen will pop up....
Gen. Montgomery: "Your men don't salute much."
Gen. Freyberg: "Well, if you wave at them they'll usually wave back."
