Dear Jason,
In regards to new unit types; are there any scenarios using the new units such as armored trains, recon aircraft etc etc.

Thanks, Hammer 732.

Excellent! I'll be ready for action to test them. I also second the suggestion for PT Boats to be added to RS.

Thanks, Hammer732.

Hi

Thought you would like to know that I am currently play testing a smallish navel scenario called “Baltic Breakout”. I hope to have this up at the “Games Depot” by the end of next week.

Issues so far identified in play testing include the inability of warships to lay smoke screens and the need for the range of aircraft to be expanded to include torpedo-carrying types. The scenario is played on a map 60 hexes wide by 40 high. I have included the draft scenario description below,

Navel combat in the Baltic sea (hypothetical) It’s January 1945 and German forces are desperately trying to evacuate vital men and equipment by sea from the encircled Army Group North for the defence of the homeland. The now all too numerous and effective Soviet Navel Air force means that they are trying to do this at night as much as possible. However even with the short days the cover of darkness ends all to soon.

In this case a powerful (for the time) German navel force needs to secure the channels through a Baltic archipelago for a vital convoy. However in order to give the convoy time to arrive at its destination before daybreak, the process of clearing the way through must start during the hours of daylight and the German warships must therefore run the gantlet of Soviet airpower.

Unfortunately for the Germans, signals intelligence means that the Soviet Navy knows that the German navel force is on the way to seize the vital passage through the islands. Time is too short to summon any more that light navel forces to block their path so in surface combat the sailors of the Baltic Fleet are going to be heavily out gunned. (all be it they have a spotter aircraft over the islands to register the fall of shot) However with complete air superiority, the Soviet Navel Air force will arrive to even up the score.

Please post any comments feedback and suggestions in the Matrix forum for the John Teller Campaign Series. Apart from the fact that it was fun to design and hopefully play, my main reason for designing this scenario was to test out the new Navel features of this game.

Special rules. Play with extreme fog of war on and with the indirect fire by map feature turned off.

I am also play testing a small scenario for “Rising Sun” based on the KMT / PLA 1940 clash which shipped with Squad Battles, Pacific War.
